Phil_314
So it seems that, with Peter Laviolette behind the bench, the Preds want to play a more offensive style, however many of their grinders don't have the offensive upside to get it done. I'm not saying that this deal is the answer, but I think both teams can get what they need going forward: Vancouver acquires: - R.F.A. rights to Michael Del Zotto Nashville acquires: - R.F.A. rights to Jordan Schroeder, R.F.A. rights to Zac Dalpe and a pick OR - David Booth. The latter proposal may sound pretty ludicrous in that "Booth has no value", etc. but M.D.Z. didn't exactly light it up last season, and at times he was on the outside looking in. However, we could use someone who's more offensively oriented to run things on the back end on the 2nd PP, or to carry the mail for the 1st. It would certainly be better to trade David as well, instead of wasting a compliance buyout when he only has one season left. Schroeder's got offensive ability and so does Dalpe, but in Vancouver they may be in tough since the focus for our bottom 6 seems to be more on size with skill. However, skilled guys in Nashville like Calle Jarnkrok aren't exactly the biggest either, but they've gotten chances to contribute offensively. Jordan and Zac, who won't likely get more time here, could use a fresh start and an increased role may help both guys blossom as they get to utilize their offensive potential in the Preds' top 9, plus they have enough grit in their play to not be a liability defensively. Let me know what you all think of either deal, or both. Cheers
Aladeen
I'd do it.
elvis15
Why do we need MDZ with all the other D we currently have? Maybe Nashville would take a chance on more offensive players in Schroeder and Dalpe, but why we'd want MDZ back I don't know.
Canuck Surfer
Del Zotto is a bit down in the dumps, but has proven in the past he can play NHL hockey. The same cannot be said of Schroeder and Dalpe. I don't think the Preds take that. Plus they have (had, at least with Trotz) a knack of developing D men.
DrChill
I would do this assuming we trade one of our top 4. Unless Trotz becomes our coach as it hasn't worked with him. Not sure they would
Phil_314
M.D.Z.'s got the most puck-moving upside out of any of our defensemen. If we get him after trading someone else we could at least hope to replicate some of what Hoff brought us, and with someone safe like Stanton they can form a decent pairing. Hamhuis - Bieksa Edler - Tanev M.D.Z. - Stanton I think Booth for M.D.Z.'s rights would be good for both sides then, since Booth can still create off the rush, and we shed the liability of the last year of Booth's contract and get the aforementioned PP QB hopeful in M.D.Z. Cullen - Fisher - Hornqvist Booth - Jarnkrok - Smith Bourque - Wilson - Forsberg Stalberg - Gaustad - Nystrom Spaling
