Ducks interest in Kes

Apparently the ducks offered up the 10th and 24th overall pick in this years draft for Kesler at the trade deadline. According to their GM their interested in revisiting the trade. Barring an unwillingness to be moved to Anaheim i cant imagine why MG didnt take this trade. The getting "younger and faster" plan was established before the draft and this wouldve given us a perfect opportunity to grab a great pick at 6th possible virtanen at 10th which would be early for him and possible fleury with 24th if hes available.

This wouldve set us up perfectly with some great youth quite possibly ready to bring up right away. Am I the only one that looks at this opportunity and practically drools with excitement, and am in disbelief MG blew it? Perhaps i underestimated the suck that is MG.

Murray does not want to make a division rival stronger in the future, and will do everything he can to low ball.

That's why the Ducks aren't a very likely trading partner. We need a team in the east to pony up and overpay for him, otherwise he has too much value to the team to just give him away.

I don't know where you guys are getting your info.

Here is all Murray said yesterday during the Ducks exit interviews regarding Keler.

Quote:

On pending moves during the draft,

The draft is a good time to make a move if you want to make it. I dont think Ill offer as much for certain pieces as I did at the trade deadline. I definitely tried very hard to add something, and it didnt work. We offered a lot, but I dont know if well go that far this time.

On whether the Ducks are a piece away,

Piece is a tough word. I know the year we won [the Cup in 07], we made a big move in getting Chris Pronger. That was the piece. Are we that close? We didnt get to the [conference final], so that would be tough for me to say. But, there are certain things I might look to do. And I think Im deep enough at the moment with assets, if that possibility came. I dont know whether that will happen

Yes, but he knows that those picks wouldn't be seen for a minimum of 3+ years at best.
