Anti-Bettman
He says "like" a lot... I like it Just shows he doesn't have any pre-rehearsed answers or go-to statements unlike Gillis. The guy is genuine, I like that.
Brick Tamland
It also means he is not over educated, which will likely NOT result in over analysis. If he has a good gut, it could pay huge dividends.
DeltaSwede
Thanks for sharing. Funny to hear pretty much the exact same answers to the same exact questions as at the press conference and the Q&A
sonoman
I love the fact that he admitted his playing career suffered from being brought in too early. Absolutely phenomenal numbers as a junior player. Recognizes that most of these young guys need some seasoning on the farm

Recognizes that most of these young guys need some seasoning on the farm For sure. It's said often but rarely backed up by personal experience. It's just such a rarity to have a guy who has become a top scout after being one of the best junior players his league has ever seen. That Benning still holds WHL records just blows my mind. Jiggs50
Love the fact that he has a vision of what he wants on his team. Also like the fact that he scouts himself a lot!

He was another guy that was rushed, not 'used' properly and a victim of 'changes in philosophy' within the League i.e. 'big and tough is best'

Hey don't get me wrong I was at a point where I hates MG. But he did win back to back president trophies. I'm shocked he hasn't been hired yet. If I'm the capitals I would have been all over gillis
aqua59
Just shows he doesn't have any pre-rehearsed answers or go-to statements unlike Gillis. The guy is genuine, I like that. You have that right. Plus his presentation of his person is far better. Gillis looked to be disheveled and in poor health the entire time he was in Vancouver. He seemed irritated and arrogant with every interview. I liked that Benning was just himself and a little uncomfortable, just like most normal pepople would be.

The always present sweat beads on Gillis's forehead suggest he was pretty uncomfortable too

Gstank29
Mind you gillies was the president and gm which i'm guessing is very stressful and probably should have been split into two separate jobs.
