[Discussion] Possible Van-Bos Trades?

With Boston in some cap trouble next season, with some key RFA's to sign this offseason I think it's inevitable that they will have to make some moves.

Now that Benning is in charge here, and obviously has a strong connection with Charelli and co. In Boston, do you guys see any possible trades between the two organizations?

I'm looking at Loui Ericsson, he's a new face in BOS, and has a 4.25 cap hit for the next 2 seasons, so he may be available for less than market value if they need to dump cap.

What do you guys think? Are there some trade possibilities between these 2 teams?

I went to Capgeek to see which players were potentially movable for them and saw that they have the same problem as us- ntc/nmc. They have 11 players w/ 1 of the vs our 10. Anyways, any trade between the 2 will be difficult due to this. I doubt anybody waives to come here because of the Finals (Eriksson wouldn't leave a cup contednor to go to a crappy team in the toughest division in hockey). So these players IMO are off the table, the only other guys they would potentially trade off of their roster would would be:

Soderberg

Smith

Krug

Bartkowski

All these guys are unlikely (espicially Smith and Krug) because 3 of them are RFA's this year and they were big parts of their team. So moving onto their prospects. Here are their best prospects they might trade away:

Spooner

Morrow

Khocklachev

But, since they're prospects, the salary issue comes up and that's what Boston is trying to fix...

In short: I doubt any trade will happen between the 2.

Yea,

They're definitely not trading RFA's. I think they will need to trade vets to make room for the RFA's.

I wouldn't just take Ericsson off the table so fast because he has a NTC, look at the success he had at the WC's with the Sedins, you don't think he would prefer to be a first liner here rather than a 3rd liner in Boston? Or at least consider it?

hope that Lucic has a bad season

Then we can trade Edler, Hansen, and a pick or prospect for Lucic and Camara at the deadline.

Camara is a young energy type player (similar to Torres) with some skill that can fill Hansen's role in a few years.

Lucic is a psycho and having him with the twins would be great.... However, having two psycho's in Lucic and Kassian on the same line would be scary for the opposition

Maybe Peter Chiarelli does Benning a favor and trades us Eriksson or maybe even Marchand!? As much I despise Marchand and his antics and all that, as a hockey player the rat isn't bad...

Trade for Marchand and sign Bolland!!!?? Oh boy ratcity...

Would a deal surrounding Edler and Erikson makes sense? I could be wrong but wasn't there rumors at last years deadline that Boston was interested in Edler? Their contracts are similar as well as their age and Edler could be of more use to them if Erikson is only going to be mainly a 3rd liner. I think a deal like this would make sense for both sides as long as both players are willing to waive their ntc's.

Loui is not coming here... he was a key peice in seguin trade. And unless its a trade that involves kesler going their way I dont see Anythingn involving him coming here happening

Yeah you're probably right, they'll likely give him another season to see what he can do. However 2 concussions and low production last year may have dropped his stock

This could make sense for both teams .. unless our new coaching staff helps Edler re-gain form, he is an asset worth moving.

Can you explain this obsession or at least strong desire to get a player who is not good enough for the top two lines in Boston. Have we gone that low that we would gladly take on the rejects from the successful teams?

It's not so much that a player like Eriksson is or would be considered a reject...it's more like timing and circumstances for certain players on certain teams.

IMO, Eriksson would be a great fit with the Sedins (mainly based on WC 2013 when the three were dominant at that tourney). I would gladly send Burrows, Hansen and prospect for Eriksson and Khokhlachev. Probably a pipe dream that Boston would do such a deal.
