[Discussion] Are there Canuck players you distinctly like more than others?

This is just a discussion of the players both on our roster and in our prospect pool.

We almost all have made trade proposals at one point or another and I think every person has players they personally would not trade, and therefore have not listed as trade bait in their proposals.

So my question is are there any players you like and would not trade regardless of the return? Is there a reason you like those players so much? Is it actually a good reason?

For example:

I have made several proposals over the years and have found that I have NEVER traded Corrado or Burrows.

When I think back to it, I am not 100% sure why.

My reasoning behind Corrado is simply that he reminds me of my favourite player Bieksa. 5th rounder, Ontario boy, throws his weight around, right hand shot. Is he better than our current D men? No. Does he have a similar last name to me? Yes.

So realistically he is a good but not great D prospect that reminds me of my favourite player. Those are not great reasons for not trading him by any means. Still I can't find myself to put him in a proposal.

Burrows is a harder one to defend. He's done a lot for the franchise yes, but he is getting older, oft injured, a pest and more than likely replaceable, yet could net a decent return in a trade and would probably make us younger. Still, just like I never wanted Lapierre to leave, I have a soft spot for annoying french canadian players with $***-eating grins and have never mentioned him in a trade.

So do you have players like this? Ones you would never trade despite it probably being in the teams best interest?

Mine used to be Mason Raymond, one who was hated in CDC... He and Kesler always seemed to work together sometimes.

Id trade everyone if it meant the best for the team.

As long as a player is proud to be a canuck and doesn't put himself before the team, he's a keeper.

Agree with this, even if it is my favorite player, I understand that if it is best for the team, we should trade him. Players like Bieksa and the Sedins are keepers for sure.

For me the guys I would not trade are the twins, Kesler, Bieksa, and the Swedish goalies.

Bieksa is such a good leader on the ice and has such a great personality off the ice that I would not trade him. We would not get enough in return for him to make up what he brings to the team in my opinion.

The Sedins are our franchise players and should stay here their whole careers, to me it's more important to keep them at all costs for their importance to the culture and history of this team. We will have both their numbers retired someday and who knows how long it will be before we can say that about someone else.

The two goalies we have are an important piece for the future, the fact that they already were a tandem in Sweden and are friends makes me want to keep them together. I also enjoy Lacks weird quirky personality and apparently Markstrom has that too, although I haven't seen much of him. That's just my reasoning, if a player is good, fits in well with the team, and has a good personality they are a keeper for me.

Kesler I disctincly like more than others but would be more willing to trade because of his high value.

I've slowly accepted that there is a strong possibility Kesler will be traded but if he isn't I'm perfectly fine with that. I do not want to see the Sedins, Burrows, Hamhuis, Bieksa, Lack and all our young players and prospects traded.

If this is a discussion about who we should or shouldn't trade, my position is that no one is untouchable and the only thing I'd be concerned about is the team getting fair value (or better) in return.

If this is just a question about favourite players, then I'd have to say my faves are undrafted guys like Burr and Tanev (hence my username). Gotta love stories about players who had to make the show the HARD way.

Juice is another favourite; love his work with Mindcheck, especially because I have had some serious depression issues in the past.

Bieksa and Burrows are the only currently on the team that I would never trade. Just seem like Canucks through and through and have defined my experience as a fan starting in 2012. I'm just too excited for Shinkaruk and Horvat to trade those, I wanna see what they can become.

This isn't about who we should trade, it is more about if there are players you love on the team more than others, for good reasons or not so good reasons. It is a non-rational discussion really.
