nuckster33
I really feel the Islanders are a perfect trading partner for us. In need of some vets to help their young team, defense and they have quite a few decent prospects. Moreover, they are moving to Brooklyn this year and really need to at least challenge for a playoff spot to drum up interest, and distract from the Rangers. Draft Day. Edler, Higgins, Gaunce and number 6 to the Isles For Griffin Reinhart, Matt Martin and number 5 Then move the number 5 and Hansen and Subban for number 1 Draft Reinhart. 1. Unite the BC boys at home 2. Griffin Reinhart really will be a stud if you're watching the Memorial Cup 3. Isles get a Dman they desperately need, and a depth forward that can really help their 3rd line and is a good vet in Higgins and he's from New York state. 4. Florida may want to move down (if they get 5 and a valuable gritty vet like Hansen and a talented young player for number 1 and still get their man, why not). Griffin can step in right away given his size. We give up Gaunce but will have Reinhart and Horvat and Cassels still Please don't undervalue Edler or the value of a talented NHL roster player with grit (Hansen) and the 5th pick, this is worth alot when you consider FLA will still have one of the big 5 if they want. Sign Stastny Sign Mike Brown (only 28) Burrows Henrik Jensen Sedin Stastny Kesler Mattias Horvat Kassian Martin Richardson Brown Hammer/Tanev Reinhart / Bieksa Garrison / Stanton Corrado
canucks155
Um, I don't think Hansen and Subban's going to get it done... The 1st trade looks good tho if Edler waives.

Buffalo wont move anyone worthwhile Edmonton has no need to move up unless they really want Ekblad Calgary doesnt have any assets to move and happy to take whatever they get at 4 5th pick isn't a big move so it shouldnt take that much, and dont forget it isn't like there is a Crosby/Malkin/Ovie at number 1 this year... Fair point though
DrChill
Edler, Higgins, Gaunce and number 6 to the Isles For Griffin Reinhart, Matt Martin and number 5 Then move the number 5 and Hansen and Subban for number 1 Draft Reinhart. I like the idea, but feel like we are giving up too much to the isles. Edler Higgins and 6th For Reinhart, Martin and 5th Still feels like we aren't getting enough for Edler but I would do it. Number 5, Hansen , and Blain for 2nd pick

Number 5, Hansen , and Blain for 2nd pick arguably yes, but Reinhart (Griffin) looks amazing, he really is going to be a top 2 and will play next year for sure, so for Edler and the swap, in a heartbeat in my mind. Higgins for Martin all day. Martin is exactly what our 4th line needs, size, hits, fast, most hits in the nhl over the last 4 years, and can actually play... Merely
Islanders say no.. Martin is one of the best hitters in the league and Reinhart I dont even have to tell you.
RogerEpic5
As already mentioned, elder and Higgins and the 6th should be enough.
Nuxfanabroad
Pretty darn similar to what I conjured up in my May 21st proposal. Agree with you. With these two teams, there's a marriage of convenience to be had. They've got some brilliant young D, appears the consensus..names like Pulock, DeHaan, Hamonic, besides Rhino's boy. Then there's STROME. With them having Tavares already, why not try to pry away this kid?
CanuckFanForever1123
I don't get the obsession with getting back Matt Martin. Other than his physical play, which he have a lot of with Burrows, Kassian, Sestito, etc., why are people so in love with the idea of trading for Martin? He contributes nothing offensively. Scoring is our issue, not physicality. That first trade is awful. We give up a good d-man for a young stud defenseman. I get that part. But beyond that, Higgins is a 35-40 point per season guy on a cheap contract, STOP TRYING TO TRADE HIM FOR NOTHING!!!, plus Gaunce has a lot of potential to be a good 3rd line center, and all of that to move up one spot and a forward who will not contribute anything on offense? Not to mention, the forward we could get at 5, could be there at 6, making this whole thing irrelevant.
CanuckFanForever1123
Let me add one more part. I would love to get a guy like Matt Martin on our 4th line. Don't take my post the wrong way. But in no way should he be involved in a trade for a big player like Edler. He is something we should probably send like Darren Archibald and a draft pick for.
