Canada wants its own Hawaii

I have a better chance of having a certain beloved appendage growing a few inches overnight than Canada has of getting Cuba. If the pains in the arses in Miami and the rest of Southern Florida are any indication, Cuba would be more trouble than it's worth.

Cuban revolution part 2?

Cuban revolution part 2?

If Raul Castro ticks off the military and/or the majority of the populace after Fidel dies then that could happen. As long as the U.S. stays the hell out of it, that would actually work.

The problem with any country wanting to absorb Cuba after a successful revolution would be the Cuban people's sense of national pride. Once the Southern Florida Cubans moved back to their homeland, would they want to push the rest of Cuba to become a territory of the U.S. I seriously doubt it.

No country, including Canada and the U.S., would have much to offer them. They already have free healthcare and their trade and standard of living would blossom under a democracy. The value of their currency would then stabilize especially if they tied it to the U.S. dollar.

Militarily they wouldn't have to invest heavily in it since the U.S. would have no choice but to protect them against other countries like Venezuela if push ever came to shove since they are located just off of the coast of the mainland. That's pretty much why Canada and Mexico will never have to worry when it comes to outside foreign invasions.

A free Cuba would most likely stay free and independent if the Castro family was removed from power after Fidel's demise.

Elected officials of Turks and Caicos have already expressed strong interest in this happening. i think for Canada it comes down to a few things:

3. How would we maintain control of the islands?

Royal Canadian Coast Guard? :)

Seriously though, it's a British overseas territory.

Newfoundland had no problem joining the Confederation in 1949, the T & C can follow the same process.

The Head of State wouldn't even change..

Peaceful mergers are lame. We need to go over there and kill, mame and totrure the natives and take the island by force like they did in the good old days.

Hahahahaaaaaa that was great! Literally laughed out loud.

Sooooooo, do it?
