dbutcher
So I have seen allot of comments about getting rid of Hansen, various threads throughout CDC, that I have read and re read, but not posted a reply. I gotta ask the question-- Why? 28 years old, 2.5 mill cap hit. 30-35 points per season. Can defiantly play a shut down defensive game consistently. has speed to burn! or has he slowed down and gotten stale like the "CORE"? He can hit when needed, we have seen that yes I agree he has hands of stone at times, but once a while really surprises. So who would replace him in the bottom 6? Does anyone remember Tortz poking Hansen on the bench early in the season? yelling at him for not back checking or something? seems like Hansen wasn't the only one to tune him out and in his mind saying "%&#^* You. Just throwing it out there as I'm not a Hansen fanatic fan but have always appreciated the hard work the guy puts in night after night.
Gstank29
he a nice 3rd line player, but other wise not really
Jägermeister
I like him, but no... we really don't anymore.
BenDrinkin
I think people feel that way because they want fresh blood in that slot. We know what he can do and want to see what others can do.
Bigturk8
30-35 points per game?? Need!

dbutcher
BenDrinkin: Good point about just wanting fresh Blood in that slot. Do you think he would accept a 4th line role? He just seems made for 3rd line duty and we know what we get with him. I guess training camp will answer lots of questions, I have just been very curious as to why so many long time CDC'ers and forum posters wanted him gone so easily said, like changing underwear..................... ShakyWalton
Nope, these are some of the guys we need to clear out for some new blood. We know most of the core will be back..so who leaves if not the Hansens of the world?
Tearloch7
He is the perfect player to move if we are going to integrate youth into the line-up .. let Horvat or Gaunce have his ice-time, and free up some Cap.
aGENT
He's a good player but we have younger and/or cheaper options. Also if we can re-sign Santorelli for ~$1.5m +/- he basically plays the same role but can also win draws (is generally more versatile). He'd be an excellent player for a contender to pick up for their bottom 6 for the exact reasons you'd like to keep him.
GreyHatnDart
For me Hansen has always been one of those seemingly well liked guys in the dressing room. Works hard night in and night out. I don't see him much as a specialist in any one way, but find me more guys that play with heart 82 games of the year and I'll sign em up all day long. I'd love to see him moved to the 4th line as a grinder type of player and have him specialize in our PK. But unfortunately we don't have the depth to replace him on the third line as of right now, unless we're going to push for some of our young up as comers to splash our lineup. Either way, for the money I don't have a problem with him. I think there's far more important problems to fix on this team and a few more players to move before Hansen. My .02. spook007
Good post +1 A year ago he was hailed as a very good 3rd liner in the league. Lots of people even suggested he was a second line player, but most agreed he was a very good 3rd line player on a line with Higgens. Total mismanagement by Tortz... Bring him back on to the 3rd line and he may get back to being the player most people liked a year ago, he was hardly the worst offender last season. In saying that, not sure there is room for him, if youngsters are to be introduced into the team.
dbutcher
J.R. good points but Santorrelli is a natural center where Hansen is a dedicated winger, and Santorelli is not signed, YET! (get it done JB) I'm not advocating keeping him, I was really just interested in WHY so many wanted him moved. ThaShady1 said it best I think, "far more important problems to fix"
Nuxfanabroad
NYI NEED to rapidly climb the ladder this season(their 2015 1st goes to Buff). Send Hansen with Edler & Burrows/Booth(retain some cap), for some of their touted-youth. Hansen would fit well over there. It's a mutual-needs opportunity! But you have to give to get and we have redundancy in our bottom 6 and a need in our top 6, for a PMD and youth/prospects. If he can help fill those holes via trade...well... c00kies
Depth players come and go, but a steady, consistent core leads the way. With this said, I don't think we have a reliable core yet, and need to deal with that first.
Lychees
He's an early Burrows IMO Hard worker, no hands, decent shot, good speed. Honestly I'm fine with him being on the team in the third line effective checking role. Not really relying on him to produce 60+ points on the second line. canucks155
Nope. I like the way he plays, but I'd rather get some fresh legs on the team and make a line like this. Kass Horvat Jensen Every successful team has some young guns in their lineup and that's something we've lacked for many years.
aGENT
J.R. good points but Santorrelli is a natural center where Hansen is a dedicated winger. *Natural centre who can play wing. Hence the "more versatile" comment.
TheRussianRocket.
Definitely not a NEED. A want sure but he could be replaced wit a young guy. Same as Higgins and Burrows though, they're in the same boat as Hansen. Good players, but replaceable.
