granpappy
as bad as the schnieder trade looks (time will tell), it likely won't come close to the cam neely debacle. i know what happened to cam neely; what happened to tom watt, the genius responsible for instigating the trade? he should not fade away without infamy. he cost the canuck organization dearly and no one should forget that! without looking too far back, ie 1970's and before where les habitants used to rake expansion teams, ie guy lafleur, it is amusing how much the flyers gave up for lindros: half their team including someone named peter forsberg
Herberts Vasiljevs
Milbury alone made 2 of the worst all time trades. edit: this is probably going to turn into a Hodgson thread, even though the trade has been good for both sides.

Absent Canuck
If we are talking awful then the Eric Lindros trade is the worst . The Wayne Gretzky trade is the second worst. The Oilers ended up with basically nothing besides the 15mil dollars. Carson and the draft picks amounted to nothing. The Kings got everything , and the League ended up selling the game to the southern states. Honorable mention goes to the Cam Neely trade , almost all of Mike MIlbury trades. I have to say though, Garth Snow probably takes the cake for GM idiot master right about now .

Ghostsof1915
Guy Lafleur. Not only was the owner of the Seals completely stupid. Sam Pollock traded a player to LA so they wouldn't finish last denying them the first overall pick. "The Habs' general manager, Sam Pollock, was keen to find a way to trade to obtain the first overall pick in the 1971 amateur draft. He persuaded California Golden Seals owner Charlie Finley to trade the Seals' 1971 first-round pick and François Lacombe in return for Montreal's 1970 first-round pick and veteran Ernie Hicke. However, late in the 1970-71 season the Los Angeles Kings were in last place overall, behind the Seals. The Kings were in danger of "beating" the Seals out for last place, and if this happened Pollock would lose his first overall pick. Pollock traded the aging Ralph Backstrom to the Kings for two players. Backstrom's presence lifted the Kings out of last place, and the Seals finished at the bottom, granting the Habs the first pick. Pollock hesitated between Lafleur and Marcel Dionne, but chose Lafleur with his overall no.1 pick."

TheRussianRocket.
Kassian trade for Buffalo. Sabres are regretting doing the trade. Kassian is a rare breed of hockey player with the potential to become a gem. Coho is a brat who has been demoted multiple times on Buffalo and replaced by other rookies. AriGold
Chara was traded to the Ottawa Senators during the 2001 NHL Entry Draft as part of a deal to acquire forward Alexei Yashin. At the time, it was believed that the deal would vastly improve the Islanders, who were never a contending team when Chára played there. Chára was part of a package deal that included Bill Muckalt and the second overall pick from that year's draft (which the Senators used to select Jason Spezza).
