nucklehead
http://althealthworks.com/2316/actor-and-comedian-jim-carrey-mocks-monsanto-in-commencement-speech-at-iowa-college/ On the heels of the widely-attended May 24 March Against Monsanto, it seems as if everyone is getting into the act of calling out the St. Louis-based agrochemical giant. Superstar actor and comedian Jim Carrey recently cracked a joke about the company during a commencement speech at Iowas Maharishi University of Management, that actually occurred on the same day as the marches. His joke took aim at Monsantos unnerving tendency to sue farmers found to have stolen their intellectual property, which is essentially code for farmers whose land has been contaminated by pollen from genetically modified crops on neighboring farms. Carrey is one of several celebrities who have come out on the side of organic farmers recently. Monsanto claims that they never sue farmers whose crops have been contaminated by trace amounts of GMOs, but they never actually have defined what trace amounts means according to top organic organization OSGATAs head Jim Gerritsen. They have, however, sued several organic farmers who never wanted patented GMO material in their crops, whose livelihoods have been ruined. theminister
Monsanto has a business model where, in theory, they have much to gain from climate instability. Hard to like them.
bigbadcanucks
If it hasn't been done already, if I were a Tort lawyer, I would get all of the farmers who have had their fields contaminated by Monsanto and launch a class action law suit against these pr!cks. Check out Kevin O'Leary being schooled by this young 14 year old girl on the facts of how evil these Monsato @$$hole$ are: It's too bad that nearly everything that we buy off of grocery store shelves contain something that was cultivated, harvested and distributed by Monsanto. peaches5
I don't have much problem with GMOs, but Monsatos business practices are another story. Monsanto owns 86% of all GMO patents, seeds, as well as the company that manufactures the weed killer. They completely dominant and bully the industry. Here's the thing I am not PRO GMO for the reason that pretty much every GMO seed that is developed is bought by Monsanto whether good or bad they buy it so someone else can't grow it. They develop their seeds to destroy the soil so that ONLY their seeds can then grow in that soil its shouldn't even be legal to do that. Then they keep developing these plants to be resistant to the herbicides and pesticides so they can spray them in copious amounts of them and have them keep growing but the problem is they are literally creating super weeds that literally have been burned with napalm to destroy them. Now some of you might not care about these super weeds or bugs resistant to pesticide but do this the next time you buy lettuce or a tomato get some weed killer and spray your lettuce copiously with it let it soak in and then wash it off with some water and tell me that there is nothing wrong with eating that because what your eating when you eat GMO is 1000x more potent than any weed killer you find in the store and you would never consider eating anything it touches. With that being said its literally impossible at the rate we eat meat to not have to use GMO but GMO doesn't have to mean bad if Monsanto can just be ousted and plants can start being created that don't need a lot of sunlight or grow in any weather etc. GMO doesn't have to mean bad but right now thats exactly what it is. Source for the 86%? Also Bayer makes LibertyLink for use with their GMO canola, there are other systems too, Clearfield (BASF) and Nexera (Dow). 2. Source for destroying soil? only monsato seeds can grow in that field? 3. Part of the problem is the lack of IPM by farmers icluding lack of rotation of group action herbicides, and many farmers have little to no crop rotation which is can also be a problem. 4. NO ONE PUT ROUNDUP ON THEIR FOOD BEFORE YOU EAT IT!!!! It says don't injest it on the label, people please don't. Roundup used on roundup ready crops is in the early stages of plant development before the part you eat has even developed. 5. where would their be crops that need to grow in little sunlight? There are many breeding programs both traditional and GM that are working on making more nutrient dense, disease resistant and adverse weather tolerant crops.
