Grapefruits
whenever I used to take my old Civic through I'd wait until the gas tank was empty. Go buy a bottle of methyl hydrate and hit the Husky. I'd usually throw a 1/4 bottle of the methyl hydrate in with a tank of gas. Take it for a burn up the freeway and drive back to the air care center. The shorter the line up the better as you're better off running the car through hot. Car always passed air care that way. Much cheaper than the guaranteed to pass stuff. Riviera82
Move to the island, no air care.
tonydif
pour methyl hydrate in an empty tank, than fill...also if Check engine light is on, put black tape over it. resetting computer to take off check engine light doesn't work anymore, they want a certain amount of cycles to be registered on the scanner to pass. Ghostsof1915
Get an ethanol blend of gas and run it for 20 minutes. Or get a better car, or tune it up or fix it. Bottom line if you're burning oil, aircare should be the least or your worries.
Dion Phaneuf
Another option is Whistler insurance or anywhere out of the AirCare zone.

Dion Phaneuf
And enjoy the breach of coverage when you get into an accident. Pretty much. I don't recommend it but lots of people do this with beaters or rarely used vehicles. Just another option for the OP though, although others options above make (a lot) more sense. LOL. If the CEL is on it pretty much guaranteed to fail, that sensor is strictly emissions related. OP what you suggested is pretty much the best/only things you can do if you want a quick/cheap possible solution.
Grapefruits
methyl hydrate and Mohawk premium gas work everytime I even tested it went to aircare failed went back a hour later passed with flying colours I remember one time, I ran the car through and it failed. Drove to another center, ran it through and it passed. Aircare was such a joke for the most part.
