J529
Linden what are you thinking http://www.theprovince.com/sports/hockey/canucks-hockey/Kuzma+Former+Bruin+John+Weisbrod+worth+look/9886592/story.html Benning, a former director of amateur scouting for the Buffalo Sabres, has vowed to give his Canuck scouts direction and it’s going to be interesting how it all plays out — especially after Linden recently gave chief amateur scout Ron Delorme a vote of confidence. Weisbrod could help the Canucks in a number of capacities.
RonMexico
Oh no the dreaded vote of confidence! I wouldn't be upset by this at all. Sometimes all someone needs is the right leadership. Benning may be able to mold the current staff into what he wants. If the old guys don't like the new direction, they will quit under thier own accord or be canned eventually. aGENT
We already scouted FAR better the last two seasons with a reorganized scouting department (that includes Delorme FYI). I'd imagine that only improves with the added direction from new management.

Totes McGoats
It's time for the scouting on this team to be completely refreshed. I don't understand why we have had the same damn scouting for this long with so little result... It's an old boys club at this point - and it's not getting the job done. J529
He doesn't even make the final decisions anymore... Some people haven't a clue. I see. So that excuses all the past blunders over the years when it comes to drafting and Delrome's awful drafting track record.
Watermelons
Delorme defintiely has not done the best job over the years but in the 2013 draft we did get some very solid prospects. I would think that he could do better under stronger leadership. Of course, the scouts have their say on who we should draft but when it all comes down to it our GMs are the ones who decide and I wouldn't say that Gillis and Nonis had the best drafting records... smithers joe
i agree that ron delorme is not the head scout any more.....gillis took that away from him...i think people should chill out and give linden and company the trust to make this a great franchise..... Gyllenhaal
I think our player development was a bigger problem, before we would just hand our prospects to an affiliate and have no control over the line-ups and ice time but now we have Utica so we can develop our own players properly. Karlsson`s Flo
Regardless what people like about this decision or not. You don't fired your head scouting a month before the draft. If Benning wants his own scouting staff, he will hire them later instead of creating a cluster**** going into your first draft after being on the job for a month and a half. DeltaSwede
What do you expect Linden to say about Delorme a month before the draft? "Nah he sucks, we are going to hire new guys and try to get the right picks within a month." If anything changes will be made after the draft. We don't know how good 2013 was for us and we will know in a few years but right now it's looking like a successful draft. Under the right leadership and guidance our scouts will perform and I have no doubt about it.
canuktravella
Im not impressed this just means its still the old boys club including the core as well no changes will be made and the same result frack. At least we have drafted great last 2 yrs gillis was much better than nonis. corrado as a 5th rounder. Cassels as a 4th rounder subban as a 5th, shinkaruk 26th overal, kenins and fox free. Hutton, jensen gaunce horvat will be great. At least we will draft more western kids with heart and hustle and size none of the smurfs or drama like shroeder or hodgson plse. Jester13
Word is that Gillis had overridden his scouting staffs suggestions a few times when it came down to some important trades and drafting. He's gone, I'm glad the scouting staff appears to be staying.
