Edler+Booth

To VAN:

Tomas Tatar and 2014 1st

Booth would be basically just a throw in. He's got one year left on his deal, so not a big gamble contractually for the Wings. Detroit has cap space. He could be a replacement for guys like bertuzzi, Cleary or Samuelsson who are all UFA's. Going back to his home state and playing for a great organization might re-juvenate and revive booth's career.

Trade #2:

To ANA

Kesler+Hansen

To VAN:

Etem, Shea Theodore and 2014 1st (10th overall)

We know what Kesler would do for the ducks but Hansen could give them some forward depth with the departures of koivu and Selanne. (Not that I'm comparing Hansen with those 2 ).

So these trades would give the Canucks 2 more 1st rd picks, meaning they'd have the 6th, 10th and 14th overall picks. These trades would also shed a total of $17M from cap space.

Potential 1st rd picks:

6th Nylander / Dal Coll

10th Virtanen

14th Haydn Fluery

2014-14 lineup:

Sedin-Sedin-Jensen

Tatar-Etem-Burrows

Higgins-Matthias-Santorelli

I think those are both decent trades for all involved. I am not certain Detroit would take Booth without sending Weiss back.

Not sure if Etem would jump right in as second line center either. But the future would look much better with these trades and draft picks. Nylander, Virtaned and Fleury would be sick picks.

I don't think Weiss and Booth are comparables contract wise. Weiss has multiple years left and booth only has one. Like I said, booth wouldn't be a big financial risk and Detroit can use some bottom 6 fwds. If Detroit does insist on sending back Weiss, then i would take booth out of the trade and just buy him out instead.

As for Etem, if he struggles, you can move santorelli to centre. I know those aren't the best options but I wouldn't mind missing the playoffs one more time next year and maybe get another top ten pick. My objective with this lineup isn't really to be a contender

Sounds good! With one year left I'd even be willing to eat a small part of Booth's salary if that means DET accepts. Also, Our second line would be quite young/inexpierenced. Put either Tatar/Etem on the third line instead of 2nd line center and get Matthias/Santorelli to share those duties.
