Pears
Wrong. Kesler deserves more whether you like it or not. But considering your an admitted Kesler hater, your opinion doesn't matter. This. Don't pay attention to anything Shiznak says about Kesler.

Jose Thedore, who was a Hart and Vezina winner (won it in the same year), was traded to the Avs for David Aebischer. Please tell me why Kesler is worth the moon and sky? But considering your an admitted Kesler hater, your opinion doesn't matter. hes right whether you like it or not. i don't always agree with what shiznak says in regards to ryan kesler, but no team is going to overpay for him and we're not going to get some kind of game changing return for him either. maybe JB proves us all wrong and makes a move that pisses off the ants on cdc, but turns out to be a great move over time. kesler is no longer a sure fire way of getting a big return, but more of a gamble at this point

Whether you like it or not. Kesler is still in his prime and has two years left on his deal at a great cap hit. He can still go. Amazing how you two have such a hard time accepting that. He is a great defensive center who goes up against other team's top lines. Teams would love to have that. I don't know why that is so hard to believe. shiznak
Because your hate-on for Kesler is blinding his value that's why.And you have a hard on for Kesler, what's your point? Of course, you and all of these Kesler lovers, will overvalue him. He's your white knight. The truth is, his numbers have decline since the Cup finals, he isn't a top end player, certainly not a guy who can carry a team (where was he during the stretch, when the team was fighting for a playoff spot?), his play has been inconsistent, and he's known to have injury issues? So why on earth would any GM mortgage their future, for a guy who has all those negative traits? This isn't NHL14, where you can con the AI, so that you could get the better of the deal. I don't know why that is so hard to believe. problem is-- he can't do that on this team anymore. it's time to move him, and that's where other teams have a better advantage, so we're not going to get a big money return for him like people here want. i'm just not setting myself up for disappointment
cbdoubleu
If he wants to be moved, move him. Find the best trade out there, and make it.The Canucks don't have to worry about trading Kesler to a contender in their own conference/division, because the Canucks can't seriosly consider themselves a contender any more. Making the playoffs at all is a pipe dream, so it's laughable how many fans are worried how Kesler might come back to haunt us in the conference finals or something. jejejester
I'm thinking Kesler and Hansen get moved together. I doubt that just Kesler is moved. A 2nd line center and a 3rd line winger could be a great pick up for a team going for the cup
Maniwaki Canuck
I believe he's worth more then that. So first he's worth more, then he's worth that? Okay, I guess that could mean that his value is declining, which is probably true.
timberz21
I'll be happy with Pouliot and their first. Realistically, that's what we're going to get. I agree, thats basically what Pittsburgh got for Staal. And Staal had much more value (at the time), since he's younger and the same type of player as Kesler. And you can't say Staal hasn't done anything in Carolina since, because they didn't know that at the time and Staal was a hot commodity. When you look at the Kesler comparable trade, you can't expect more than that.... Richards fetched Schenn (similar value as Pouliot at the time), Simmonds (similar to late first or Bennett) and a 2nd Carter fetched Couturier and Voracek (similar value as Pouliot and late 1st or Bennett) Phil Kessel fetched 2 x 1st round pick. And you can say Boston got 2 top 10 1st rounder, but both Bos and Toronto gambled on this one. It wasn't expected that the picks would be that late both year (maybe 1 year). And Kessel was an up and coming elite player with I believe would have more value than Kesler at 30. All these players are similar impact player to Kesler (not type of player) and all have similar or better career number than Kesler. So we can't expect top 10 pick + late first or 2015 first + A grade prospect or top 6 player. Either two of the above. But I still think the best offer we could get would be Anaheim, since they seem more willing to overpay, as they should since they are rivals. FWIW Staal was a free agent on an expiring deal when he was dealt. Kesler has two more years at a VERY reasonable cap hit. They're not really directly comparable situations. So actually the team that would trade for Staal, knew they could lock him up for long, Kesler could walk to UFA after 2 years.
