DonLever
Updates: Hidden Cash Vancouver heads to the suburbs Vancouver, BC, Canada / (CKNW AM) AM980 CKNW News Staff May 31, 2014 10:52 am Anyone hoping to score a $100 bill today, should head out to the suburbs. According the twitter account @HiddenCashYVR, that’s where some big bills will be hidden as day four of the social media driven money hunt in Vancouver gets underway. The twitter account — which first appeared May 28th — posts pictures and clues of hidden $100′s around town to its more than 13 thousand followers. Anyone who grabs a stash is asked to tweet their findings. Inspired by the original twitter treasure hunt in San Francisco, Hidden Cash Vancouver has seen eight winners, and is now moving out of the confines of the city. Yesterday the account tweeted “Tomorrow, we’ll spread things out geographically… cya in the ‘burbs!!” The first clue of the day is now out — with the tweet reading: The lady in this statue offers Peace. I offer a piece of … then a picture of a bag of money. The second clue of the day was released just before noon. It reads “wouldn’t it be deer, to find 100-dollars near the Lake”? DonLever
From the CBC: Hidden cash Twitter hunt mystery comes to Vancouver People find $100 bills tweeted by @HiddenCashYvr in random locations, suburbs are next The hidden cash hunt that began a week ago in San Francisco seems to have spread to Vancouver and Toronto. Two days ago, Twitter user @HiddenCashYvr started tweeting locations of $100 bills, and Vancouverites have been cashing in. But when Rina Youssef was picking a table at a Vancouver cafeteria to eat her lunch, she had no idea an envelope with a $100 bill was hidden underneath until she got a nudge from a CBC reporter. "It's fun," she said. "Free lunch! Thank you. Everyone loves finding money." Rina Youssef reaches under the table at a local cafeteria where she had gone for lunch to find a $100 bill stuffed inside an envelope. (CBC) When asked what she would do with it, Youssef replied, "Spend it. I'll probably go shopping." Fellow Vancouverite Britanya Hodge found her cash envelope hidden in a bush. "In among the cigarette butts, I see a little of the manila envelope from the dirt. It said congratulations on it, so a bit of excitement. "Hopefully it spreads," she said, "and you start seeing a little bit more energy in the city and see people getting involved." Hodges says the find was definitely "better than Easter eggs!" Since its appearance in San Fransciso, the hidden cash phenomenon has spread to several other California cities including Los Angeles. It has also spawned copycats in other U.S. states, including Texas, Florida and Colorado. And Toronto also has its own hidden cash tweeting benefactor. But unlike his Vancouver counterpart, Russell "the Cashman" Oliver of Oliver Jewellery is far from anonymous. Oliver says he hopes his Twitter treasure hunt encourages people to learn about the city he loves, and they remember to share the wealth that he has come to enjoy. "The more buzz, the more I'll increase the amount of envelopes and the amount of cash in them!" he told CBC News. Paying it forward is a key component of the exercise and seems to be the motivation of Vancouver's hidden cash benefactor — who unlike "the Cashman" doesn't want any attention at all but who does promise, "There will be more tomorrow." It also promises, "tomorrow [saturday] we'll spread things out geographically...cya in the burbs!!"
Grapefruits
Oh look a bunch of people glued to twitter waiting for a tweet and then running around like rats in a maze looking for the cheese. Pathetic.
elvis15
Oh look a bunch of people glued to twitter waiting for a tweet and then running around like rats in a maze looking for the cheese. Pathetic. Oh look, someone on a message board slagging people for getting outside and having a bit of an adventure - even if it means using social media. But it's like a treasure hunt, geo-tagging or something similar. As long as people are having fun and enjoying the outside on a day like today, who cares how they do it. Meh, give it some time to gain popularity and it's only a matter of time before someone gets stabbed fighting over the cash.

surtur
I am willing to give my email address to anyone wanting to give away free money. Email transfer is much easier as you don't even need to leave the house. plus i am lazy and wouldn't want to go searching for the money so save you and me the hassle and just email me the money. you can make a game out of it and make me guess the password but please include clues lol. maybe we could do this on CDC anyone know if you can set time limits on email transfers so if not accepted within say 2 hours it is cancelled?
