Dogbyte
I just got to thinking about how stupid guns are and how shocking is the death of loved ones. Any idiot in America that thinks a gun can protect him/her from the govenment is a freaking moron. An absolute imbecile. It's just a shame that lies can penetrate that deep so as to make oneself believe they are safe by carrying a projectile weapon. Have these people never read Clancy or seen Danger of Lies or the Hunt for Red October? If the government wants you dead you're dead and you're little stupid guns ain't helping ya. It's just an excuse to artificially feel tough and it's enabling and killing a lot of people. If you're really mad enough to kill someone do it with your own hands. People suck, we don't need guns. Riviera82
I'm not sure that everybody who possesses a gun is worried about the government coming after them. My guess would be that most people who have guns are worried about burglars, rival drug dealers, hunting animals, zombies, etc. etc..

Fair enough but it's pretty tough to shoot and load you're gun and acutually shoot somone in real time. Anyone that thinks they can carry a gun and shoot off the hip and kill a burgler is a a pschopath anyway. If you really feel like that you might at welll paint yourself in a corner, grab a 44, and wait for the inevitable. I do appreciate your general realism though. As far as the government thing that's the lie they tell to stupid Americans that buy it. Just completely desperate, fearful, and shameful.

My guess would be that most people who have guns are worried about burglars, rival drug dealers, hunting animals, zombies, etc. etc.. i also think that there are people who believe that the U.S and its economy , in fact the world economy could collapse at any time .. and that there could be a real threat of lawlessness and panic if that happened .. I personally think that semi auto weapons are ridiculous ... no reason for people to have em .. America is not stupid .. it just has SOME stupid people living there ... been to canada lately ? The actual thought of the populus fighting the goverment is laughable. Rednecks live up to their stereotype. Too bad it's killing people. You have some shallow little idiot that thinks he's going to shoot tanks and evade heat seeking missles. The penis thing is right. Just scared tiny people. Talk about a waste of skin. i also think that there are people who believe that the U.S and its economy , in fact the world economy could collapse at any time .. and that there could be a real threat of lawlessness and panic if that happened .. You're absolutey right. I should have said the idea of America is stupid. I've been to America a lot and for the most part the people are actually great. Nuxfanabroad
Stupidity..need that lame forrest Gump quote? Someone here had posted an article on national IQ's(what 6-9 months back?), which was rather interesting/illuminating. Not sure western/developed society is progressing as it should... But how much does your society invigorate & inspire you towards intellectual pursuits; then conversely, how can it spoon-feed, limit & in various ways, "dumb down" masses of humanity? They talk of weapons in the US..but look at the shyte Hollywood has been cramming down throats(in the guise of entertainment), dating from about the early '80s. People have become desensitized, & I believe many are emotionally/spiritually scarred. It's probably more useful to visualize Hollywood studios as weapons companies. Guns & weapons deaths are discussed by media as an illness, but rather should be recognized as a symptom.

Dogbyte
only the ones that voted obama Well if you vote for one of two corrupt parties you're a complete idiot to begin with. That's the typical crap they shove down peoples throats. Talk about weak. People with guns are buying it and their self is thinner than a scared girl trying to make it in Hollywood. SabreFan1
Most people, including the OP I'd be willing to bet, think that the U.S. has the highest rate of death by firearms. It doesn't. Per capita it is 28th in the world. Per capita, countries such as Jamaica kill more people. There are over 300 million people here in the U.S. so of course you'll hear more about our gun violence. I believe in the U.S.'s second amendment, but the thing that I don't like is how easy it is that mentally ill people can get their hands on them. Felons can't use firearms, so if you've been diagnosed with a moderate mental illness you should be reported by your health professional and put into a database that automatically disqualifies you for at least 5 years with a check-up every 5 years if gun ownership is desired. If you are on life long medicine to control your sickness then you should not be allowed to ever own any kind of weapon. No matter what liberals and the rest of the world thinks, normal people do not go around shooting each other for the hell of it. FYI: With the exception of most rednecks, most people don't own guns because of the government, most people own them for personal protection. You are a very welcome member on this site. I'm sorry if I come off as being a jerk. I understand the sentiment of the second ammendment but it was never intended to enable people to kill other civillians. That's all you guys you do. In your history your guns haven't actually protected anyone have they? Have you ever been attacked by the goverment? Just keep believing those lies. Your country depends on it. Living with the thought that you're protectors might turn and kill you is just pointless. Regarding the number of deaths it's just staggering. More might die per capita but you guys are just killing people for fun. Is it really that hard to see that normal people shouldn't have access to guns. Wow ! How would you guys feel if I had a gun? I'd probably shoot up CDC over an Edler rage. p.s. you drafting Bennett or Reinhart? I'd honestly go Bennett.

The U.S. has hundreds of millions of people in it. Of the hundreds of millions of people, there are millions that have moderate to serious mental illnesses. Now look at the high profile (single or mass) murders. The large majority of them were committed by people who were nuttier than fruitcakes. The U.S. gave up on fighting mental illness in this country a long time ago. The attitude is pretty much, "drug 'em and street 'em. Even here in the U.S., people don't kill people for fun, people kill people because they are either dregs on society or flat out nuts.

In my humble, almost worthless opinion, I think that the mentality of passing the blame from yourself to something else is one of the biggest causes of the lack of knowledge in the USA. I'd also like the gun show loophole closed. The only kind of gun you should be allowed to buy without a permit is a single shot muzzle loaded antique. You can't pre-pack them for any large length of time, most are terribly inaccurate, and if you try to pack and load one in an attempt to kill somebody, they'll be beating you to death with a rock even before you have a chance to load it. So true, I agree. I'm just so saddened by the news from your country and mine every single day. My sister lost her husband to drinking and driving, and 5 people lost their lives to a knife wielding pshyco a month ago here in Calgary. I'm just sick of the pointless death. People die every day but don't have to and seeing my sister crying over a grave is something we shouldn't do to each other.

Here's to hoping I didn't offend anyone with this post You're basically explaining what ignorance is. When it comes to firearms, an ignorant person is only a danger to himself and others in and around his household. Stupidity kills way more than ignorance. I've considered owning a handgun many times, but I've never ended up getting one because it always comes back to the question of, what if I accidentally shoot somebody for whatever reason or somebody else gets ahold of my gun and kills somebody else with it. I couldn't live knowing that my actions led to the death of an innocent person.
