Should the Sedins be traded to bring the assets necessary to rebuild as a contender

I know there is probably a number of threads spread around this board with people suggesting all kinds of trade options for the Sedins.

There will be lots of fans who really want to see both Henrik and Daniel remain with the Canucks all the way through to their retirement. There's also lots of fans who feel that this is the time to move them in order to gain the assets to do a full rebuild and be ready to compete again in a few years.

Emotionally, moving these two may cost the Canucks part of their immediate fan base!

Keeping them will mean that we watch them decline for the duration of their contracts until they reach retirement.

Looking for a simple Yes or No. No fence sitters.

Personally, I'd probably rather see them stay with the Canucks, but I realize that might not be what's best for the team in the long term! Based on that, I'm going to personally say, Yes, now is the time to move them.

I understand that they both have No Movement Clauses and that this is not as simple as picking up the phone and shopping them through the league.

All things being equal, would you move them?

If you answer Yes! What would you expect back in terms of assets? I didn't put options on the Poll as there will be way too many opinions to limit it to a few simple options!

I'm not sure that they are really moveable anyway (even ignoing the NTCs). If they are to be a package, it will be really hard, especially with Daniel's health in question. If they can be split, I can see at least an opportunity to move Henrik at least in theory. But but I can't really think it's even remotely realistic in the very near future.

So...no.

They're pretty much immovable. Firstly, another team has to take them both and their combined 14 million dollar cap because they wouldn't move separately. Secondly, it would have to be to a team that they both would want to go to. And lastly, their value has to be at an all-time low considering they just came off one of their very worst seasons and have declining point totals since 2010 and 2011 respectively.

If the Canucks did somehow manage to trade them it would probably result in another albatross coming back in return.

Not happening, large contract after one of their worst years(I blame Torts) - they will be Canucks until they retire whether management/the fans like it or not, their trade value is so low right now they're on the verge of Scott Gomez @ 7.5M bad if they can't fix their game.

Remember, this is hypothetical, IF you could and all things being equal.

Emotionally, would you be okay with moving them or would you be really pissed off at the organization for shipping them out.

Yes, their contracts would make it difficult, but IF........

They're not going to play here forever (eventually sign somewhere else, retire, or ask to be traded). If the organization "forced" them out, I would have an issue with it considering everything they have done for the city and team. If they figured it was time to move on, I would be disppointed, but wish them well (it's their career to do with as they see fit).

Name a team that would be willing to take on a $14M cap hit cause i would assume a team would want to take both Sedins. Coming off the year that they had... The answer is probably nobody. They are getting up there in age and will probably be here for a while. I would give them the opportunity to go later in their careers if they haven't won a cup here. They are 2/3 of our 1st line for the foreseeable future, I think their role needs to start getting them as 2nd liners on our team.. but with no options to fill the void right now.. They will be on the top line.

If they would man up and be willing to be traded separately instead of having to be tied together... f ya.

The Sedins came into the NHL draft prepared and knowing that there was a good chance they wouldn't be playing together.. Obviously they want to, and compliment each others play... I don't think its about them having to man up. They are professionals and would do it if asked. That NMC clause would make things more difficult though.

Not happening. Lock please.

Why would you want to see this locked?

I've seen plenty of hypothetical trades put forward in "Proposals and Armchair GM'ing" for trades of Daniel and Henrik, this just asks for the CDC members to state how they would actually feel about that happening and if they would be open to the idea or not!

If there's another thread asking that specifically, please let me know as I couldn't find it in search!

how many threads has this come up in?

if anything needs a lock its this one.

and no, they're franchise players and are huge in the community, they need to retire as Canucks. that is unless they let their contracts run out and seek employment elsewhere, then its up to them.
