RUPERTKBD
Am I the only one who thought the 'keeper gave up on that shot? It actually looked to me like an easier save than the one he made on the previous free kick.

Bizarre
Am I the only one who thought the 'keeper gave up on that shot? He gave Messi the whole near post which is just asinine.
Dragonfruits
no, you didn't say it, but you don't have to. you pop up in this thread and say negative stuff, then leave until you have more negative things to say. anyway: you're a fan of the Vancouver Canucks, a team that hosts Burrows, a player who literally pulls hair and bites people if he has to. Suarez has done that maybe one more time than Burrows and Suarez is now the laughing stock of the planet. Literally. If ANYBODY outside of three or four hockey-fan communities knew who Burrows is, everyone--and I mean EVERYONE--would hate him and poke fun at how poor of a sport he is. Another Canucks player, Todd Bertuzzi, smashed someone in the back of the head and then fell on him from behind. In the playoffs this year, we saw plenty of players taking liberties behind the refs back, like the Bruins' groin shots and Lucic threatening people in the handshake. Don't forget the countless diving and call-selling that has been happening each and every playoff round in the last few years Coaches have tantrums like little kids? Ahem... Tortarella? Please get out of here with your "integrity of the game" trash. Hockey players are dirty and their emotions are only in check sometimes. The NHL has just as many dirty, cheap, cretins as most major soccer leagues do. The only difference is that very few people watch hockey, so nobody cares. But if you want to see all the dishonesty exposed, go look at the "GDT" on any given Canucks game day, and you will see the whole spectrum of people pointing out the corruption of the league and the dishonesty of the Canucks' opponents sorry but there is no use trying to defend soccer this kind of crap happens at every single level of the game and it is an accepted part of the game the diving and the fake injuries doesn't matter what you say soccer players are not earning any respect from fans of other sports with the bs they pull every single game and it doesn't help when FIFA does nothing at all to punish these antics by players rather they encourage so do the fans so do the managers and owners it's pathetic every sport is dirty but Soccer they accept it and applaud it which makes it pathetic doesn't matter how you try to rationalize it at the end of the day Soccer players are some of the biggest divers and fakers in the Sports World

I don't care if someone on a hockey forum likes soccer. I do care, though, if someone comes into a soccer thread and starts bad mouthing the sport. And then backing it up with outrageous claims about other athletes being more "in control of emotions" -- as if hockey, a sport played largely by complete neanderthals, is the Civilized Game. it isn't. it's violent, full of cheating, full of call-selling, full of vulgarity, and, again, according to an alarming number of CDC'ers, its full of corruption as well. again, the last 3-5 seasons of Canucks hockey epitomize how dirty and uncouth hockey can be. And no, in soccer they do not "accept and applaud" diving. if you haven't heard the jeering in Brazil, do you ever watch the English league? If a player dives too much, he gets scorned constantly. There are some leagues and nations that absolutely do tolerate (not applaud) diving (Italy), but there are plenty of leagues that do not.

As pathetic as all these excuses are, it's really sad to see a talented player like Suarez turn himself into such a circus act.Did you watch the playoffs this year lol. It's a problem in both sports. Sometimes I wonder just how many scoring chances are wasted by players not staying on their feet.

The problem people were having was that posters were logging on to the thread for the express purpose of trash talking the sport. It's fine for people to dislike soccer, but if it isn't your cup of tea, the simple solution is to stay out of soccer threads and leave it to those of us who do like it and want to engage in discussing the sport; both the things that we like about it and the things that we may not. I said the same to fo_life when he logged into the Blue Jays thread just to tell us all how much he hated the Blue Jays and that he didn't watch baseball anyway. It was an opinion that nobody cared about and would have been better off left out of the thread... ...just as complaining about the World Cup and soccer in general should be left out of this one. By all means, come in to the thread and say what a brutal call the penalty against Cote D'ivoire was and how ridiculous it is that one official has to make that call at game speed... Talk about what a POS Suarez is and how he should be banned for the rest of the WC at least... Go ahead and lament the flopping that happens on a regular basis in every match...No-one has a problem with this. We do it ourselves. The difference is, we also talk at length about what a brilliant footballer Lio Messi is, or marvel at the goals scored by van Persie and Cahill. There is a difference between being critical of a single aspect of a sport and simply making a blanket statement like "These players are pathetic", or "Soccer sucks". If you truly have no agenda other than to complain about the sport in general, your comments are not going to be welcome.

aeromotacanucks
it's the diving and rolling around that is stupid in soccer... every collusion someone dives and roll around like they got shot.. 90% of these "divings" on soccer came/come from the Brazil´s Team and 95% of this come from Neymar or Fred... so that´s why people are so angry... maybe if FIFA start punish the fakes who love dive for nothing it will end very fast... AV.
People still think Italy just dive and flop? I mean sure it happens once in a while in the sense that somebody goes down easy on a challenge depending on circumstances in the game, but ask yourselves, doesn't every team have players who do that? Under Prandelli, save for Balotelli at times, the whole squad were generally disciplined and genuinely played integrity. Maybe I'm biased but I think it's way too unfair to label Italy as that team in current day. Anyways, even though the outcome was underwhelming, FIGC have some good pieces in Verratti, Darmian, De Sciglio, Insigne, and Immobile from this year's squad going forward. Balotelli, so long as he's focused, should be solid as well. Hopefully guys like Berardi, Mastour, El Shaarawy, and Florenzi take big steps domestically and start capping regularly in the coming years. Sad to see Pirlo go, I'm thinking Buffon also follows him. I'll never forget their brilliant performances in Germany.
