Canada bans government meteorologists from talking about climate change

Recommended Posts

Meteorologists working for the Canadian government's weather and meteorological body Environment Canada have been forbidden from publicly discussing climate change.

A government spokesperson said this week that the policy exists because its meteorologists aren't qualified to answer questions related to climate change.

The policy is part of a government-wide Communications Protocol introduced in August 2006, soon after Prime Minister Stephen Harper's Conservative party came to power.

Scientist have been muzzled increasingly since the Neo-Cons hit the scene in 2006.

As far as I'm concerned, this is old news. But it's good that we're all reminded about the Gov't trying to stop the people of Canada from thinking freely.

If anyone is thinking the next federal election is gonna really change anything, I've got some bad news for you. Just look at the options, LOL!

The only thing worse than a far right christian wacko is the herp derp same thing both sides crowd.

Why wouldn't anyone be free to talk about anything?

Don't we have freedom of speech in this country?

It's up to people if they want to believe what meteorologists are saying or not.

Well, technically, they're free to say what they want. The problem is that if they do, they'll lose their job.

They are not allowed to talk about it because they do not know what the official Gov stance is on it. To have a bunch of "experts" giving out conflicting information and calling it official does not help anybody.

Yeah, the Harper government really doesn't like when "experts" contradict their stances... Census, tough-on-crime, environment, elections... Those experts just can't keep their damn "expert opinions" to themselves! Harper don't need no stinkin' experts, he gots a mandate!

Given to him by 2/5th of voters. The rest (a majority) think he is a complete douche.
