Phil_314
COL will jump, MTL will laugh Add Niskanen to that list. No way should we pay him $6 M, when time and again big UFA signings haven't exactly been always worth the money. Also, Benning for Mayor if he pulls that Habs deal off. terrible.dee
I like it! I'm all about strength up the middle and your deals add two young talented centers who could lead us into the next generation. Problem is, Hamhuis would have to waive and I'm not sure he would, MTL has no reason to take our deal, even if it is good value, unless they have a hard on for Nylander or something Niskinen isn't worth it. Playing on the Pens inflates a players stats, we would end up with yet another middling D man in addition to the 5 we already have
DownUndaCanuck
Actually pretty good ideas there. The 6th overall + Gaunce would definately be enough for Galchenyuk. Habs aren't too happy with how he's progressing compared to their other young kids, and Gaunce is definately worth the difference between a 3rd and 6th overall pick. The only slight I have against this is that Kassian signing for 1.5M is a bit cheap, he'd probably command 2M but could be talked down to 1.5 if we're lucky. I don't see a GM paying a defenceman more than our "project" Edler though, but if we've got space we might as well throw it at Niskanen (although I feel he came off a lucky good season playing a lot with Pittsburgh's big guns). Personally I'd rather trade Bieksa instead of Hamhuis for O'Reilly, maybe have to throw in Hansen to make up that difference, and DEFINATELY re-sign Santorelli. Sedin - Sedin - O'Reilly Galchenyuk - Kesler - Jensen Higgins - Santorelli - Kassian Burrows - Richardson - Matthias Horvat Edler - Tanev Hamhuis - Niskanen Garrison - Stanton Corrado Weber Lack
qwijibo
Montreal laughs and hangs up. Galchenyuk JUST turned 20 and is already a very important part of their team. He's playing wing right now but eventually will be their number one center. Why would they take a young budding star out of their lineup when all they get back is a number 6 pick in a weak draft where their choice likely won't be NHL ready for a few seasons plus a B grade prospect in Guance

You clone a player, then secretly trade the clone!!! Get's a little awkward when two of someone show up for family dinners though!

How many 20 year olds spend the whole season with the big club when most of them are sent back to the minors ? He's had a broken hand and a knee injury this year. How much progress do you expect from that.
