[Proposal] Vancouver - Florida - Chicago

Recommended Posts

I'll start this off by saying it was not my idea, one my Blackhawks brethren from another site suggested it. Nonetheless, it's not a bad proposal. But I would be interested on getting a Canucks perspective

To Vancouver - Florida's #1 overall pick in 2014

To Florida - Patrick Sharp

To Chicago - Ryan Kesler

Thoughts?

I was thinking Florida would get the short end of the stick. Between Chicago and Vancouver they're ghave to give up something extra.

Kesler isn't even close to being worth the top pick and neither is Sharp. Both of them are struggling right now whereas Ekblad/Reinhart have their whole future ahead of them and can be a top 2 dman or top line center respectively. Meanwhile, Sharp and Kesler are 2nd liners...

The Panthers don't even get a stick...

@Darth Kane actually I can see Reinhart reaching that elite level. Maybe he won't score 60g like Stamkos but his Pts/G numbers are phenominal, and so is his defensive play

Alternatively, Ekblad looks like a Weber or Pronger 2.0 which is worthy of a 1st overall.

This draft just isn't getting the credit it deserves because of the drop-off after the top 15

All the basic fundamentals are there? Clever proposal.

Do think Florida needs more.

One addition: Vancouver adds Corrado to Florida, Chicago adds a 3rd to Florida and Rundblad to Vancouver.

Alternate: Chicago just add's Leddy to Florida. (They get Kesler and run with Rundblad as secondary PMD.)

I'd rather add the 3rd. Chicago has Florida's 3rd from the Pirri trade so we can just give it back to them.

Stamkos wasnt who he is as a player when he was drafted.

Obviously not, but he was a more highly touted prospect than anyone in this draft. The 2008 draft class was pretty solid, some of the first rounders were Stamkos, Doughty, Bogosian, Pietrangelo, Hodgson, Myers, Karlsson (OTT), and Eberle. Many of these guys were anticipated to be big producers and the NHL levelm the same can't be said for the 2014 draft class. Time will tell if that is correct or not, but the early returns don't support anything different.
