[Report] Marc Crawford a Candidate for Canucks Head Coach

Recommended Posts

personally don't really see how the bertuzzi/moore trial should have any effect on whether crow should come back as coach or not, don't really give a crap on the lawsuit

i loved crow and was sad to see him leave.....how can anyone blame him for the goaltending....we had cloutier and alex auld....not exactly top goaltenders there....

and we had a whole bunch of no namers that disappeared off the face of earth after leaving van....hardly a cup winning team, no way near the team we had the past years..

but all this is a moot point, we have no idea who benning/linden wants and is interviewing

Nicely put. I concur.

If anything and anyone, that card has already been turned.

it's funny some crazy Canucks fans wouldn't mind having MIke Keenan back too.

lol

You talk like he's so awful. And yet people on here are clamouring for Crawford return.

Keenan turned Naslund and Bertuzzi into elite players.

Crow is a great coach and would bring excitement back into this team.

Blysma just became available too.

Pretty good options should the Canucks make a quick move before they go

How exactly would Crawford bring excitement back to the team?

Lets say Crawford was brought back. How is firing Torts and replacing him with Crawford any better. If you want fresh blood you don't bring back retend/recycled head coach whose coached here before. Crawford has been out of the league for several years and the whole Bertuzzi/Moore thing would become distraction. You can count on it. How anyone on here can say "they don't care about it" It's still before court and awaiting trial.

This is why I really dislike Linden hire. He's hiring people he's played with or played for (depending how truth and/or interest there is in Crawford) Essentially it's becoming "the old boys network"

Nothing against JB hire as he has a proven track record.

Seemed to work out quite well with Therrien in Montreal...

Therrien worked out so well in Pittsburgh when he crapped the bed in Finals and got fired. Montreal is different bleed. It's mandatory coach must be fracophone and speak language.

Just because Therrien has had some success in Montreal doesn't gurantee if Crawford returned the same thing would happen here.

So confirmed he had a interview with the Nucks. God help us all.....

Tom Renney was also spotted today at YVR.

Maybe we are going to be interviewing all of our past coaches.

I think signing Crawford would be a very risky decision. Far less risk to grab a hungry coach who hasn't had a championship yet. If Crawford failed it would only strain the credibility of bringing in nostalgic figures such as Linden. Better to get someone who is hungry and hasnt lead a bench. Or perhaps Bylsma for his really great results. Believe i saw somewhere where it said Bylsma has the best record of all coaches currently playing or something. He d be a great consideration for the post. As much as people say he had crosby, malkin, and letang to work with... Those 3 guys have taken up a lot of their cap hit so a more balanced roster less top heavy might actually work out well for him. Not sure when all those players got big contracts though so I may be off.

An interview doesn't guarantee anything. I would rather the team does a thorough job and interviews as many candidates as possible rather than key in on any particular one. You never know who may impress you. Afterall, they aren't looking for the fan's choice.
