timberz21
http://www.rds.ca/hockey/lnh/martin-dans-la-course-en-caroline-1.1155052 Google translation : "The negotiations continue for the NHL teams that are looking for a new coach and our colleague François Gagnon learned that Jacques Martin would be considered a candidate to succeed Kirk Muller at the helm of the Carolina Hurricanes .Last season, Martin was as an assistant to Dan Bylsma in Pittsburgh. The most recent experience of Martin as head coach in the NHL was completed in 2011-12 with the Canadiens. As regards the position with the Florida Panthers, Marc Crawford would also be among the potential candidates in addition to Gerard Gallant, assistant to Michel Therrien.Crawford did not run in the NHL since the 2010-11 season with the Dallas Stars." ____________________________________________ http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=454054 Add Ron Wilson to the list as well. ____________________________________________ Good keep them away from Desjardinds and Stevens, as I think they are the two best candidates for us. Xbox
I don't think many other teams will even be looking at Desjardins. He's off the radar and is only on our radar because of our new GM. Not saying he's a bad coach because he's not and I'd like to have him here but I just don't think he's high on other teams lists.
sharnhayre
I haven't heard Willie mentioned in any other teams discussions either. Florida will go for an experienced NHL coach... Crow could be a good fit there.
Master Mind
I hope they hire Crawford. I don't think he should've been fired by the Stars when he was, and I'd like to see him back in the league.
sharnhayre
TSN just reported that Ron Wilson is being interviewed for this position: http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=454054
MJDDawg
Interesting that it now seems that older and experienced coaches are being interviewed for openings. A couple of years ago it would have been hard to imagine Ron Wilson or Jacques Martin ever getting another shot. I think what's happened in Montreal, Boston and LA has shown that old school coaches aren't necessarily as washed up as people once thought. Neversummer
TSN just reported that Ron Wilson is being interviewed for this position: http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=454054I've always wondered what happened to Wilson after the Leafs, he went invisible. Now his name has popped up. Based on his last stint ... bad choice.
missioncanucksfan
Well wjat if Wilson takes the Florida job and hires Oats as his top assistant? Many intangibles if that was to happen. Wilson had a bad rocord in Toronto but look what was presented to him year after year. Wilson had his record in SJ, but its not like Todd McLellan has gotten them much further. MJDDawg
Follow Dan Weiss@DanWeissPBP To my last tweet, Willie Desjardins will be an excellent NHL head coach one day. His teams thrive on puck possession & discipline. Paige Lewis @PaigeLewisFL 10h @DanWeissPBP I've heard nothing but dynamite things about that man the past month. That's exciting news Dan Weiss @DanWeissPBP 10h @PaigeLewisFL You watch any Texas game his teams are exceptionally structured and tough to play against.
