Brick Tamland
JB and TL have given them literally nothing to work with. Whether it's related to coaching, drafting or trading these guys are getting nothing. Botchford makes up the Crow rumour. Kuzma again says Ryan waived last year and will do so again, but it is all purely speculation. It's great thing to see. Neither has been granted a full, new hire interview that almost always done. Make these guys sit on the sideline and suffer for the years of lies and rumour mongering they did. Give them nothing. We don't need their 'expertise' or lies. A little vent at the garbage I have had to read from them over the last few days.
EmployeeoftheMonth
I can get behind this. I don't much care for guys like Gallagher because he's generally full of crap but I will say he's a good writer and in general puts his bs across as opinion. Can't say that for those 2. Botchford writes like a 1st year journalism student and they both write as if they're working for TMZ sports edition.
hsedin33
The newspapers should have to use the same guidelines and tags we use when we post on here. [speculation] or [Report] with a source. I think it would mostly be [speculation] which is sad for a Newspaper.
PhillipBlunt
Excellent vent. These jackholes are a blight against self respecting Canucks fans.

Sadly, Gallagher aka Fishbone is one of the more knowledgeable writers in Vancouver and actually has some clue what is going on. I have no time for idiots like Botchford, Kuzma, Willis, etc. They have no more accurate info than most of us.
thad
Haha who cares really. The beat writers aren't for fans like us who actually have more knowledge of our prospect pool than them. They are for the kinda casual guy who watches most games but has no idea who Bo Horvat is and has always said Lu sucked. We are like the a die hard journalist that is begging for answers all the time and digging for info that we'll never get because it will compromise our GMs position. No analyst will ever please us, we just have to read between the lines and come to our own conclusion from quotes and stuff they give us. Don't get too bent out of shape when they spin a story and you know it's wrong. You know what's up, so who cares if the guy at work comes in and spews exactly what kuzma wrote haha

TOMapleLaughs
When even one of the most 'cherished' media guys here turns around and rips his own team, 'dat guy is a 4 million dollar joke', and is subsequently fired, you know there is a disconnect between the team and the media. That disconnect is not healthy. Yes, the team is in a low now. We're all kinda down on the team to a degree. But when times get better again, we need a clear mandate here to get behind the team fully, so the team, media and fans are all on the same page. imho That won't happen until the TO-friendly media is cleared and we have 100% ultra-homeristic, brazen and shameless media coverage that rivals the good teams south of the border. This will only serve to get the fans behind the team as well. The Canucks in 2011 utterly failed to win the media battle, mostly because they're depending on TO-friendly media to report on them. That should be totally unacceptable for a supposed 'have' franchise.
smokes
This is what needed to be done in the first place. Speculate on Edler and Linden comes in and backs up his guy up and yet still gives them nothing more to write.
Dogbyte
Great post. I think it's great in general. A far cry from the past where management tried to control and spin the media. The release of general statements about the team that really gave no info and lead to speculation only to then be forced to back peddle or protect information because of such comments really was detrimental to the team. Not only did it put our fan base in a tailspin but it made us easy pickings for all media, and seemed to bias the league against us. Hopefully we get some real changes that are announced like professionals and not some red-raced fool huffing on his ego.

Down by the River
Did I just drop acid? It is how he writes: The new boss sounds like the old boss: It took several days, but Jim Benning finally unveiled his vision as the new Canucks general manager. And that vision, he suggested, includes keeping all the old boys together. Benning gave a huge vote of confidence to that core which John Tortorella labelled old and stale on his way out of town. “I like our core players,” Benning said. “Our core players, I feel, are high-quality people. I’m happy with that part of it. “We need to get back to what we’re good at. This organization needs to play an uptempo, fast, skating, skilled game. “Before last season, this team had almost an attitude, a relentless attitude where they were going to skate, wear teams down and score.” Is that you, Gilly? You got a NTC? Sir Bennington don’t care: Maybe the most interesting revelation to come from Benning today was that he’s willing to approach players about waiving their no-trade clauses. “We have to do what’s right for the organization. If we feel that we need to approach a player about waiving his no-trade, we’re willing to do that.” That’s a massive departure from the previous regime. Hello, Alex Edler trade? Benning thinks he can fix the scouting issues with better communication: “Vancouver plays in what may be the toughest division in the league. To win our division, we’re going to have to go through the Anaheims, the San Joses, and the LAs. “They’re big, heavy teams. “So, when we talk to our scouting staff, one of our mandates is let’s try to get bigger. Let’s get more rugged. So we can play both styles. So we can play a skilled, skating style when we need. But when it’s a rugged physical game, we can play that style, too.” Goodbye Nylander and Ehlers. Unless it’s all a smokescreen? http://blogs.theprovince.com/2014/05/23/jim-bennings-first-day-what-we-learned/ The only lines he writes that stretch to the middle of the page are direct quotes. Everything else is written like someone learning English for the first time. I didn't edit the format at all, bold is actually Botchford commentary. Everything else is quotes. alfstonker
I find journalists to be confused by truth (a bit like MG with a straight trade offer) they are much more in their element when using their imagination and trying to outdo each other.
