Darth Kane
https://ca.sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nhl-puck-daddy/cory-schneider-won-t-sign-extension-until-devils-guarantee-him-60-games-192240049.htmlVery interesting. Normally I don't like these types of moves but I kind of agree with him.

Provost
Perfectly fair... He has been on this merry go round before. He signed with Vancouver assuming Luongo was going to be moved and ended up in the middle of a soap opera. If they sign Brodeur for another season, he will walk after his contract is done. He should let himself get to free agency and see what is out there... he has certainly earned it.
Master Mind
Normally I don't like when players do that either, but he should be a starter by this point so I think it's a reasonable request he's making. NJ should be happy he wants to stay. It would be a huge mistake if they let him walk.

asian player
The career backup goalie needs to know his role and shut his mouth. This guy has proven everything he has needed to prove that he is a legitimate NHL starter. He's 28 now and he deserves it. Martin Brodeur is not going to be around much longer so I see no reason for the Devils not to agree to this
TheRussianRocket.
Lol, bad luck Schneider. Feel for him but at the same time it's hard not to laugh a bit. Backs up a Gold Medalist in Vancouver, then another in NJ
Mr.53
I don't blame him. He's an unrestricted free agent and has definitely proven he deserves to be a starter. The kid wants to play and get his starting career under way. He's worked too hard for too long not to be. He's saying he will resign, just as long as it's the starting goaltender position. I agree. I hate when people demand certain spots. We pay you the contract, and you earn your spot. Even if I pay you 6 million dollars and you're a first line talent, if you don't produce, then yeah, you don't get the spot you wanted. You still get your money though; however, in this case, he has earned a starting goaltender job and then some. However, if he starts slumping and sucking over the year, then it could lead to some problems. But until then, I'm behind Schneids on this one. MJDDawg
The career backup goalie needs to know his role and shut his mouth. Agreed. Assuming they resign Brodeur to be the backup, why not just let their play do the talking? If he can't out perform Marty then too bad. Unless he believes that they'll again play Marty regardless. If he can't out perform Marty then too bad. Unless he believes that they'll again play Marty regardless. That's the problem...he does out-perform Marty on stats...by a long shot. He ranks near the top of the league in 'em. His team knows Marty's tendancies best tho'. Schneids is asking for more respect & that the NJ Devils' organization give their team the best op to win, by letting Scheider's teammates get even more used to playing infront of him now, too. They already know everything that Marty can do. The goalie with the best over-all stats last year, getting the majority of the starts will equal far better results & success for the Devils in the long run....and Schneids knows how important that decision will be..THIS time. Scheider's time is NOW, while he is in his prime, to cement his own legacy & capitalize on a contract that will secure his long-term future. The year just prior to one's un-restricted free-agency, has consequences that are... HUGE!
Phil_314
Seeing this I'm glad that we handled our two #1's situation well... at least on the P.R. front. It's similar in the fact that Cory outplayed the incumbent #1 (Lu, then Marty), but in this instance I think it's pretty clear-cut that the Devils would bring him back as the default #1 guy, since Marty isn't that anymore (Cory actually played more and had better stats, though a worse record). What's unfortunate though is that, with the vets like Elias and Jagr eventually riding off into the sunset, the team in front of him probably won't be as good as it's been. But yeah, it would be something if Lou decided to keep Marty and Schneids leaves and signs with us (just a thought)
