Bissurnette
This is completely unrealistic and would never happen. That said, I'm just asking what CDC thinks of the value of the trades going back and forth to different teams. To ANA: Kesler + 2nd round pick (36th overall) To VAN: 10th overall + Emerson + Rakell ------------------ To DET: Edler + Jensen + Gaunce To VAN: Nyquist + Mantha + 3rd round pick ------------------- To FLO: 6th overall + Tanev To VAN: 1st overall pick ------------------- To BUF: Nyquist + Horvat To VAN: 2nd overall pick Our "net income" would be 1st overall, 2nd overall, 10th overall, Emerson, Rakell and Mantha Our "net expenditure" would be Kesler, Edler, Tanev, Horvat, and Jensen and 6th overall pick. We'd draft Ekblad and Reinhart with our top 2 picks. Then whoever's left from Nylander, Virtanen, Fleury, Ehlers or Ritchie we could draft with the 10th overall pick. Jiggs50
After Detroit stops laughing they say no. Mantha and Nyquist are untouchables imo. If I'm Florida I don't do that deal.
c00kies
We overpay in the first deal. The value is about right for the 2nd deal, but we'd probably have to add and I don't think Detroit will trade Nyquist without some overpayment. The 3rd deal is not enough to get a number one pick, even if there's no elite player in the draft. The 4th deal is horrible. Nyquist is already an established NHLer (we'll see how well he does in the future) and Horvat is on the cusp of making the NHL and is one of our best prospects. There is nobody in the draft worth anything close to that value.

Bissurnette
Hmmm ok I'll make some changes I think Florida makes that deal because they get a very young and solid D-man who will only get better. But since he's no Ekblad we have to add the 6th overall pick which is nothing to scoff at. So for Ekblad they get a D-man who can help them now and in the future, plus a very good forward (Nylander or Virtanen etc.). I think that's fair for both teams. don't give up your day job Don't have a day job, still going to school but thanks for the constructive criticism. EDIT: I'd still make that trade for the 2nd overall pick because I think Reinhart would be worth both these guys especially since we'd be getting Rakell in the Kesler trade. So we don't need Horvat. Our second line could be Mantha - Rakell - Emerson
bigbadcanucks
Had to make sure it wasn't another proposal thread started by CanucksVia before I entered (though I see that he's added his 2 cents worth...can't see it since I have him on ignore)...think Ducks deal may be a possibility, but Detroit and Florida deal, not so much. Based on TL's endorsement of Edler, I don't think he's going anywhere...too bad, because I'm of the opinion he's a guy that should be moved (along with Kesler and Burrows). These are interesting times...let's hope that Kassian, Jensen, Horvat, Gaunce, Tanev, Corrado, and Lack are ready to emerge as the next set of core players. If they don't, major reconstructive surgery is going to be needed through the stockpiling of future draft picks.
bigbadcanucks
don't give up your day job I've seen your posts evolve from, "let's wait and see" (a reasonable perspective), to ones like above in the past couple of weeks, Smithers Joe...sounds like your getting tired of all these proposals (don't blame you). I ask with all due respect, what changes do you think are needed for the Canucks, and if you were speculating, what changes do you foresee? MayRayDown
Nyquist is probably worth edler, jensen+

Like I said in my original post, I am fully aware that collectively these moves would never happen because no team has ever rebuilt that fast (it's just unreasonable). I was just thinking theoretically about the trades. I still believe that the Florida trade makes sense for both teams value-wise. I even read lots of posts in another thread (I believe the "Benning wants Reinhart" thread) where people don't think that first overall is worth Tanev and our 6th because they believe Tanev is too valuable for the future of the team. Legend Killer
What i can see happening is Kesler to Anaheim for 10th, 24th and Shea Theodore. Then, we flip the 6th, 10th and Jensen to Buffalo for the 2nd. We lose Kesler and Jensen, gain the 24th, 2nd and Shea Theodore. Select Reinhart at 2nd, Sanheim at 24th. Suddenly we have a future Center depth consisting of Reinhart, Horvat, Cassels and Gaunce. Doesn't look bad at all, and next year we would have Horvat and Reinhart in the Lineup probably. Lots of cap room, and youth playing on ELC.
