William_Clarkson
To TBL: -Kesler -Shinkaruk -Garrison (request him to waive to TB) To VAN: -Drouin -2015 2nd I have no idea about this trade. Drouin is very valuable; this trade has an above average future first line winger & 2nd round pick in a deep draft for an above average current second line center, top 4 defense man, future top 6 winger. Criticize this though, because I don't know about the value. To FLA: -Tanev's Rights -6th Overall -Hansen To VAN: -1st Overall Again, not 100% sure of the value. Since Florida say they are aiming for the playoffs they'll get a young top 4 shutdown D-man, Ehlers (who they apparently really want), and a bottom 6 forward for their team. Canucks can get Reinhart, because Henrik needs to be replaced before Edler does (presuming he bounces back properly and can be in Norris consideration by the time he's 30, hard to imagine, but possible. Besides, many great D-Man are found in later rounds, great centers are almost always found early). jdatb
Drouin is untouchable for sure. No way Tampa trades him.
sims
If we could get Drouin that would be great, that way we can play him with Jensen, both will get 80+ points and then we can have 100's+ pages of how the only reason Jensen is good (ala Ehlers) is that Drouin is involved in 30% of his points. But yeah even though that's not that bad of an offer I wouldn't do it if it was reversed.

DownUndaCanuck
Drouin may be untouchable but god that's a good trade for Tampa. They need a gritty playoff center like Kesler who can take them to the next level and even worse - they need a 20-minute defenceman as Salo's getting older. Plus they get Shinkaruk. I'd take it if I were Tampa (maybe not the pick though). You trade away a future franchise forward who won't help them much next season for Kesler and Garrison who immediately boost their playoff chances and Shinkaruk who will help them down the line to ease the tension of trading away Drouin. In terms of value, they trade away a future 90-100 point player for a current 60 point player in Kesler, a 30 point defenceman in Garrison and a future 60-70 point player in Shinkaruk. Tampa Bay has to go for the Cup NOW while Stamkos and Bishop are seemingly hitting their peaks, there's no point waiting for Drouin to be ready. He won't be hitting his peak for another 3-5 years anyway. Trade works out for both teams. The only problem I have with these is that I'd keep Matthias around, just because he's still young (27, got potential, may be a late bloomer) and our defence is suddenly shocking. Goal and defence are what we need to build around. Sure it's nice to have Drouin and Reinhart together but we don't want to turn into the Oilers. I'd actually pick Ekblad with the 1st overall and not worry about Niskanen. If we're going to build our new team around Drouin, we need defencemen who will be in their prime when he is. In 3 years time Hamhuis and Bieksa are going to be slow and inefficient, and our only decent defencemen will be Edler and Corrado - neither of which will be a top D-man in the league. Throw Ekblad into the mix and here's that same team in 2 or 3 years time: Drouin - Horvat - Jensen Sedin - Sedin - Kassian UFA forward - Matthias - Higgins Lain - Gaunce - UFA forward Edler - Ekblad Hamhuis - Corrado Bieksa - Stanton Lack Markstrom Sure Horvat is no #1 future center, but I like that teams chances with a 60 point center (points will be boosted by Drouin) and a future Norris trophy-worthy defenceman in Ekblad over Reinhart-Drouin and a bunch of old veterans on the blueline. The Rangers made it to the final with no real top scorer, as have the Bruins in past years. You don't necessarily need a point-per-game center to win Cups, what you definately DO need is a top-5 defenceman in the NHL and that's exactly what Ekblad is. Pears
Drouin - Reinhart - Kassian would be disgusting but unfortunately Drouin probably is untouchable.

I agree about the defense thing, but the hope is that Edler has a bounce back year and continues to develop (D-Man have been shown to peak around the age of 30). All these D-Man were drafted outside the 1st round: -Chara -Weber -Keith -Subban -etc If Edler does go through this, he will be able to be the top D-Man for a many years, while Henrik can be 1st line center for 4 more years (if that). It's easier to find defense man late. Edler-Niskanen UFA or Draft Pick-Corrado or UFA or Draft Pick ^That can be used for a many years. This was also why I put Corrado with Hamhuis (hoping he develops much like Tanev does [i believe Tanev's corsi stats are negative without Hamhuis]). And a trade can always be made for another defenseman down the road.
