[Report] Teammates Decided Not To Give Kesler "A"

This is the first I've heard of this, It was on Team 1040 this morning, part of Pratt's Rant, apparently prior to the beginning of last season the Canucks' players voted on who gets the As, after not being selected to get the honor Kesler asked for a trade.

I see this from two angles, I can appreciate Kesler being pissed, He plays in every situation, he plays vs the other team's best player, he is willing to fight or do anything it takes to win. He deserved an A over anyone else on that team.

At the same time how big of a jerk is this guy? His teammates see his contributions just as much as we do yet they collectively decided to give the A to other guys. If that's the case it's best he's gone, you can't change your whole team to appease a guy like that. He reminds me of Claude Lemieux, great player but couldn't help ware out his welcome where ever he went.

He's a guy with a big ego. That can be good and bad. Clearly he's pissed but the guy also would like to win. So the combination of those two things is what seems to be driving his trade demand. Hopefully nuck fans don't turn this into a Kesler is a crying baby etc etc...

Very hard to speculate as to what was the 'reason' for that but clearly its an outcome of the TEAM saying, we have an issue with some manner in which you are behaving, and you are not behaving like a leader.

This could have been

A personal issue with some other player(s) - rumours have abounded

Perhaps his gripes were vocal already, ie wanted out so they decided well you shouldn't have the A

Perhaps it was the fact he is an ego driven, type A competitor who called players out, old school Messier style and it wasn't handled well in the locker room, where its more about veteran leadership, perhaps he pulled a Torts and the players hated it? could be

Perhaps it was the fact he is an ego driven type A competitor who did the prior but ignores his own play and came across as a prima donna, and was more prima donna/blame driven vs looking at himself and his play as well....

Any of these reasons are plausible, on fact that is clear, the team sent him a message and that is a very very big sign of a cancer in the room

He needs to go

People need to see this from his point of view. A team needs to be close-knit, like a family. They decided on something behind his back so he feels betrayed. How can he feel the same about them anymore? He has every right to want to leave.

betrayed?

umm this isn't highschool or survivor! the team sent him a message, that HAS to be related to something he did, it doesn't just happen because a clique forms and has their hate on for him....these are grown men, adults who felt this person was not acting like a leader...that to me says a great deal about Kesler...

Clearly, there was an issue in the room, and he was a big cause of it, the players simply reacted to that by stripping him of the A....

Not strip him of the A because we are acting adolescent, then he got upset

Cause and effect, you have it backwards.

Now its news again.

It never stopped actually, it's been mentioned frequently enough in the Kesler rumour thread(s).

if it came from pratt, i wouldn't believe it...torts said he took the A away from kesler....

That was the word at the start of the year. Others have mentioned since there was also a vote, but regardless the team wanted to go from 4 alternates to only 2.

well of course torts would say that, he isn't going to create more media issues by saying we have locker room issues

play last year was more than coaching, we all know it, clearly this was not a team, and therefore that means something was wrong in the room.

it all adds up...
