J.I.A.H.N
I'll start by saying that I haven't seen this one yet, but with so many out here, it could be there. #1. Trade: Kesler + 2016 3rd rounder to Ana for Theodore, 2014-10th, and 2014-24th (This instantly builds our prospects pool) #2. Trade: Garrison + Subban +2014-24 overall for NYIslanders 2014-5th overall ( Islanders get defensive help now and in the future + still have a 1st round pick) UFA's.........Stastny (4yrs @7,500,000 per)....Callahan (4yrs @ $7,000,000 per) (We over pay, but no NTC's......this meets JB and TL promise) 2014-2015 Trade Deadline Considerations: Higgins, Hansen, Booth, and Burrows (Only if we are out of contension, and only 2 out of the 4) 2014-2015 Draft Edler (This will give Edler either a chance to prove his worth and his wife a chance to get use to the idea of moving) Results: 2014-5th overall (Dal Colle, Draisaitl, Nylander) 2014-6th overall (Fleury) 2014-10th overall (McCann, Larkin, Richie or Virtanen) 2014-36 overall (McKeown, Glover or Dougherty) Theodore Stastny Callahan 2015-2016 Draft: 2015-1st rounder + Edler + 2016-1st Rounder to move as high as we can within the 2015-1st Round (May consider moving a redundant prospect if needed, aka Fox, Cassels or Gaunce, not advocating moving them all in the trade, but would for 1st or 2nd overall, it is a risk, but it should be worth it) The above are all valuable pieces and would hate to loose any of them, but they would all be expendable for a 1st overall or a young 1st line center Overall result is obtainable and with such a young team, we should be competative and have a low cap entering the 2015-2016 season.....we would have the ability to fill in with another UFA or trade We would be set, in my opinion! What would it take of these assests to obtain a 2015-1st or 2nd Overall or a Young under 25 1st line Center ? Vancouver's 2015-1st Round pick ( Top 6 to 12 overall ) Vancouver's 2016-1st Round pick ( Top 8 to 14 overall ) Edler Gaunce Cassels Fox

J.I.A.H.N
With 5th pick Nylander 6th Ehlers 10th Ritchie Ehlers-Nylander-Kassian Ritchie-Horvat-Shinkaruk Gaunce-Cassels-Jensen OK, but how is our defense looking.....usually take longer for defensemen to mature.....can't forget that, ......on the other hand.... that is a pretty crazy top 9 you have. Sauve instead mabye? Trouble is I think Sauve is dead wood...that is why I put in Subban....has potential still.......maybe too much! Who else would you put in if not Subban? I am open to suggestions

If you wait to see how Subban develops, he will have, like Sauve, little to no trade value.
Azzy Mahmood
I'd go for all of that. I can see Stastny easily making $7.5m as a free agent, if not $8m. The Leafs will throw the kitchen sink at him. I do also think that Callahan could be had for less, after his poor post-season. Although all reports lean towards Yzerman re-signing him.

In response to Azzy Mahmood So, if we take off the signing of UFA's (Stastny and Callahan) just agreeing with you here Then either we take our 2014 -1st and /Tanev/Garrison/Gaunce/Cassels/Fox and go shopping for a first line center OR We hang on to them and we will surely be have a very good first or second overall picks in 2015 and 2016 I personally think that we can aquire the 2014 first Overall with a combination of our 2014-6th overall and Tanev and a futures pick, such as 2016-1st or 2017-1st ( Our choice ) The point is we can aquire a young first line center with out too much trouble...yes it will cost! Who is out there we can buy?
