Southpop45
Friedman went on team 1040 Monday June 9, 2014 and made some interesting comments: he does think someone will step up and make a deal for kesler everyone (besides the kings) in the western conference is looking for a center doesn't think they will trade kesler unless they get something that can help them now and in the future thinks the week leading up to the draft will be crazy with trades, and trade rumours canucks will most likely make contact with bylsma eventually if they haven't already bylsma may wait until the end of the year before he makes his decision if the canucks trade kesler friedman says he thinks the canucks will be 2-3 years away from being able to seriously compete with the kings
73 Percent
2-3 years? thats not bad. better than Edmonton and NYI 10 year rebuilds.
73 Percent
I like friedman. for a guy whos never played the game at a high lever he knows his stuff. and he stays pretty neutral to all teams. unlike others.
nuckster33
Ya Friedman stays out of the junk and seems to have some pretty solid sources. I think because of his nature, his ability to stay neutral and not fan flames but rather 'report', many in the NHL trust him to not divulge too much and therefore share information with him Its called actually being a good journalist! which he is, and yes he knows the game. Its a bit of a fallacy/ego driven thing that the NHL believes you need to have played in the NHL to understand it lol..not at all. Heck Hitchcock is one of the best coaches ever, did he ever play at a high level? Nope. The NFL doesn't seem to believe you can't understand the game if you didn't play it...only the NHL... I also love the balance he brings to shut up that moron Healy...I don't even get why that guy has a job, there are so many better / more interesting ex players than that bafoon! timberz21
How is that interesting comments? Nothing that hasn't been said already. Pretty much general stuff, nothing really insightful. I don't see the love for Friedman, seem like CDC likes him because he doesn't blast the Canucks. I find that everything he says is pretty generic, and if he happens to be right, he looks good, but when he's wrong, nothing really happen, no one really cares since it's too generic. As much as I hate Dreger, you can tell he has much more insight than Friedman and better sources. Even if he speculates a lot more, specially regarding trades, when it comes to other hockey information he is much more insightful.

Azzy Mahmood
Friedman's 30 thoughts are one of the few regular hockey columns I look forward to reading. He is a good source of information and I would rather hear his thoughts on hockey than Don Cherry or PJ Stock.

The caveman that thinks a hockey player can't possibly be good unless he comes from Ontario and never smiles or celebrates scoring a goal? I understand the nostalgia from fans watching HNIC and the Canadian homerism, nothing wrong with being proud of where you are from. However, the guy has outdated opinions and makes dumb remarks directed at European players and women. I am always surprised that people still like him. I know a lot of people on here don't like him either or his dumb remarks.

Elliote is the only national reporter I will ever trust. I remember when he was cuttin his teeth with The Score, they would show him literally sleeping at his desk. This man has thoroughly done his homework and due diligence. Even his mic time...you can tell he has practiced. He takes pride in telling a story, reporting the truth and only when he has cold hard facts does he report a story. Not some hack that is reaching in every bs article. The time he made a fool of Glenn Healy on Hotstove...I instantly became his #1 fan.

I know a lot of people on here don't like him either or his dumb remarks. Yet game after game, he points out the little things that have impact on the game. I may not agree with his opinions. But when it comes to the fundamentals, that has not changed in hockey. And he's phenomenal at that aspect, and makes an effort to point it out, and wants to make sure "the kids out there" see what do to, and not to do. Warhippy
Why do I like Fried? He is literally one of us. A hockey fan who made it in to the national stage. He doesn't play favorites, has no eastern media bias doesn't curry favors from any GM manager president or other analysts The guy is about as impartial and passionate about hockey as they come. If more NHL refs had the impartial attitude and passion about the game as E.F. does, the game would be much more fun to watch again

I live in the east. he doesnt get much respect here. I find myself promoting friedman to my hockey peers over tools like dreger.
