nitwitt
What are the Canucks "really" looking for as far as value for Kesler? Without a doubt Kesler has played his last game as a Canuck...So the Canucks will be looking for a younger, cheaper version of Kesler. Maybe not as offensive but has that potential to be. A player with size that will be hard to play against with lots of upside. Lots of people have talked about the Penguins but they won't put a package that is fair value. The Ducks are in the same boat, we don't want Smith-Pelly a bottom 6 forward and Etem will end up no better then Higgins. Detroit, Tampa and Chicago will never part with their prized prospects so this leaves the Flyers. This is where it get's interesting... The Flyers have the exact player this franchise needs- Sean Couturier, this kid is 21 years old, makes 1.75mil for the next 2 years, is 6'3"-210lbs now, is a better playmaker(potentially) and just as good in his own zone as Kesler. Projected to be a very good 2nd line center in the NHL for many years to come. Let's not fool ourselves, Couturier alone won't do it, but if the Flyers add their 1st(17th overall) for 2014 and next years 1st then a workable, fair deal for both teams would be at hand. The Flyers get a top level center that is under a great contract and is remarkable at defending and attacking. The Canucks get a center that would look great with Kassian and Shinkaruk. The Canucks could then package up that 17th overall pick and their 6th overall pick with a roster player like Hansen or Garrison to Florida for the 1st overall in this years draft. Florida does this because they have identified their guy-Nikolaj Ehlers whom will be available mid-round. Canucks then pick Sam Reinhart whom they covet. In essence Kesler,Hansen/Garrison plus our 1st , gets us Couturier, Reinhart and a 1st round pick 2015 in a very deep draft next year. Reinhart will be a number 1 center in the NHL sooner then later and Couturier will be a number 2 center. What do you guys think?
DrChill
So u think Couts, some say their most untouchable player by fans and 2 1st for Kesler? Most Philly fans wouldn't trade 1 for
FlyLow_
I'd love Couts but honestly I wouldn't even do that deal 1 for 1 if I were philly. Schenn is the one they need to move, and I'd be fine with him as the centerpiece in a Kesler trade.
Jai604
lololol, Philly wouldn't even trade Couturier straight up. He is, as you say, already a better playmaker and great at both ends of the ice. He is on a great deal and is 21 years old. Why does Philly trade him? And why the hell would they throw in TWO, not one, but TWO first round picks? Come on man. Schenn+ maybe. Couturier++, lol, not a chance.
DownUndaCanuck
Couturier is probably better than Kesler right now, which is why we'd have to trade Kesler + our 1st rounder for Couturier + their 1st rounder.
timberz21
Funny how everyone who makes proposal thinks it's fair. Like I've said a million time, look at what Pittsburgh got for Jordan Staal. Sutter and 8th overall (Pouliot). This should be the base for the Kesler return as in my opinion, Staal had better value since he was much younger than Kesler with similar style and stats. Plus the offers won't get better than the trade deadline where teams are desparate to get a player and don't know which rank they pick. Now if the FLyers thinks they could get a player they like at 17th, their 1st just increase in value. Plus they know they are on Kesler's short list, so there won't be a bidding war

Not even close, Kesler is by far a better player and will have way more impact to their lineup, hence the 2 firsts. Schenn has more impact to their lineup. Couturier is the 3rd line center on that team.

He already looks like a 2nd liner and put up about as many point as Kes. When u said obviously that wouldn't do it, I got some hope that you'd throw in something from OUR side, not Philly. Philly wouldn't even do this 1 for 1...
Zoolander
Brayden Schenn, 17th pick, and Morin/Hagg would be a deal I'd take...we could flip the 17th pick or take someone like Honka, Point, Barbashev, etc

Schenn's still young himself but he'd be a solid piece as a top-6 forward with the rebuilding Sabres, plus he's got potential. He'd be a decent building block, since he only finished behind Hodgson and Ennis in scoring.

Most Philly fans wouldn't trade 1 for 1 Ok maybe I overvalued Kesler slightly, but only by the 1st round pick in 2015. Kesler has 6-7 50pt seasons left, If he plays with players like Simmonds he's likely to get 60-70pts. Couturier will be lucky to get 1 50pt season in the next 6-7 years. Nothing stupid about that proposal, maybe take away the 1st rd. pick in 2015 and that is a very realistic trade. Flyers do it in a heartbeat. Guys... Couturier is not going to be R. RogerEpic5
This proposal is fine. I think you overvalued Kesler a little to much? Idk. That's all.

nitwitt
Stop drinking the haterade bro COUTURIER UNDERGOES SPORTS HERNIA SURGERY The Flyers announced that third-line center Sean Couturier underwent successful surgery to repair a sports hernia. According to team president Paul Holmgren, the injury affected Couturier from January onward but was not considered serious enough at the time to require more than maintenance until after the season. The player, who dressed in all 82 games and scored 13 goals and 39 points while anchoring the club's shutdown line, has already begun his rehabilitation. He is expected to be fully recovered within five to six weeks and should be fine for the start of training camp. You guys still think Couturier is worth more then kesler, give your head a shake. Kesler if Canadian would have pushed for a spot on team Canada, hewas the best center on team USA and Patrick Kane has openly said one of the very top players he's ever had the privalege of playing with. I don't think Couturier is even close- he certainly can't skate like Kesler or hit for that matter...
Rush17
Couturier + Morin + 2nd + 3rd how would that sound? Get 2 good prospects + decent depth picks? Not sure how I feel about Morin maybe swap him with another piece. I would really like to acquire Smith-Pelly from ANA with a package. But this is where we should leave it up to JB. Clearly its fun to speculate but who are we to say. Jim has more xp then all of us combined. I think there is going to be a massive set of moves at the draft. We are going to land a very impressive haul but Horvat may be dealt in the process. Which I think is fine since we have Gaunce and have a need for a 1st line center.
