Still have about 4.65Million in cap space left over

We get younger and bigger both etem and DSP- are above 215lbs

Can roll all 4 lines gives us a chance to compete right now

and in a few years when prospects develop (Horvat, Jensen and Kassian)

Retain Draft picks 6th and 10th overall at the draft draft who ever to add to the prospect pool

I would preferably like to trade Kesler to Detroit but I feel our return from
Anahiem can be better in terms of building our franchise like the LA kings

play rough and tumble hockey with big bodies that can skate; (Etem, kids got wheels)

Let me know what you guys think about the value and what not!

Still think Markov won't leave Montreal.

And if he does he's staying in the east, probably with a contender like Pittsburgh or Boston (that would hurt MTL lol) or maybe with his Russian connections in Washington.

Your probably right about markov staying in the east, but if it is in the east then i see him staying on with montreal

Caps should target a defensive d-man cause god knows they need one; M. Greene maybe? and a goalie.

Pits cant afford markov they have 14 mil in cap and their whole bottom 6 still unsigned plus depth forwards and d-men

Boston...that would suck lol but I think Markov has too much hatred to sign on with the rival bruins

I'm also overpaying for markov a bit in an attempt to lure him to the west and its only 2 year deal so very short term for

the canucks to commit to

I like the trades, i feel that we should be able to get that package from Anehiem for less...In my eyes ideally we get DSP, Theadore and the 10th just so we have a top tier d prospect in the system and to be honest following the model thats been talked about (Roster player, prospect, pick) we should be able to get that for just kes and ,maybe the third.

I guess it all depends on what other teams are offering and how we can use that for leverage.

I agree that Markov will probably sign in MTL, we could go after Salo for a 1 or 2 year contract.

I have had similar thoughts but a couple of issues

1. I don't think Anaheim will part with both Smith Pelley and Etem PLUS the 10, even if we are adding in Hansen.

2. I think Markov is pretty happy in MTL (and the team happy w him) and the only thing that will move him is term - which means we'd over pay so no thanks. And in combination of what I propose, unnecessary.

3. Horvat won't be ready for 2c. 3c, hopefully...If we signed a player like Grabo (who I like but I think is too small for the west, he would play 2c and likely wouldn't sign here otherwise, it was the issue he had in Toronto, he really is a 2c).

4. I would like to see this.

A. Buy out Booth

B. Move Hansen and a pick (4th or after), or maybe Booth instead (retain some salary), Garrison for Matt Martin and their 2014 second round selection and 2015 2nd rounder.

C. Kesler, and NYI 2nd goes to the Ducks for Smith - Pelley or Etem, Vatanen and their 10th overall

D. Sign Stastny and Callahan

E. Draft Nylander at 6 and Virtanen,Ritchie or Fleury at 10

Not only will we be challenging this year but we have restocked our youth and are not rushing them (while inserting a number into the line up)

Youth

Horvat

Vatanen

Gaunce

Smith Pelley/Etem (first call up)

Shinkaruk (healing and AHL development)

Nylander

Virtanen/Ritchie

Below assumes at 65 mil cap for next year as anticipated.

We have a real 2c who can distribute

Split the twins for depth

Callahan replaces Kesler's grit

Young guns on the top line with Hank to develop and force teams to deal with a new look. That first line is BIG, while Jensen isn't physical he is a big body. Kassian well, is a beast.

Second line has enough grit and balance

Third line, size with grit and Horvat centering between 2 defensively responsible players who can score if given the puck, balanced third that is kind of a 2b, but not forcing Horvat to play with alot of pressure. Good enough to play a shut down role as well.

Fourth line gives me chills. Two hard on the puck players with Richardson and Higgins and a mad banger in Martin. A REAL 4th line that can play 10-12 a night and shut down other teams top line

Its really not alot of moves. Hard part is signing the two UFA's

Okay lets dissect your proposal a bit!

1. Kesler is worth 1 top prospect + ready roster player and 1st round draft pick so adding in hansen plus another

pick can surely get both etem and DSP, i might agree with you that we need to get a defensive prospect as well from anahiem

2. Markov was merely a suggestion, for a powerplay man he probably wont come here but overpaying might help plus its short term

3. The reason I want grabo is because having him for the short term, doesnt hand cuff our team like it would signing stastny and callahan, they would want to cash in on their long term deals now so you know they want 6 years or more

4. Callahan was reported to have wanted $6.5M from the rangers want makes you think he would sign for less with us?

Also with your proposal its sort of going "all in" sort of for next year which is fine but that d-core and goaltending isn't going to get us too far into the playoffs if at all and if we failed to make it into the playoffs you have 5/6 top forwards signed to long term deals (3 years +)

where as in my proposal we can take a run at the playoffs during the season assess the team during the trade deadline, if we are doing poorly become sellers try to get picks in a very deep draft for next year or if we are overachieving and doing well then try to add pieces

Also with Vatanen, he never averaged more then 18 mins a night on the ducks during the regular season what makes you think he can suddenly jump into our top 4 and play 20+ mins a night? also 1/3 of this points were on the powerplay playing with getzlaf and perry, i would rather have Shea Theodore from the ducks

I like the idea of adding matt martin, the kid can hit and he would fit perfectly into bennings mold of beefing up the bottom 6, but what makes u think Garrison, who has a full NTC, who signed here for less would wanna waive that and go to the islanders.....?

Overall I don't think its bad, its just I feel less inclined to sign FA to long term deals as the solution, would rather see the kids play and if we do poorly then so be it (I'm actually hoping for a proper rebuild)

Anaheim rejects.

Horvat probably won't be ready for the 2nd line.
