asian player
Couturier + 19th for Garrison and Jensen? That's just stupid. They'll have to throw in Morin and their 2015 1st for us to consider.

nitwitt
???? 19th >> Jensen Philly's 2C Couturier = top 3 D on Canucks with only a $4 Mil cap hit COUTURIER UNDERGOES SPORTS HERNIA SURGERY The Flyers announced that third-line center Sean Couturier underwent successful surgery to repair a sports hernia. According to team president Paul Holmgren, the injury affected Couturier from January onward but was not considered serious enough at the time to require more than maintenance until after the season. The player, who dressed in all 82 games and scored 13 goals and 39 points while anchoring the club's shutdown line, has already begun his rehabilitation. He is expected to be fully recovered within five to six weeks and should be fine for the start of training camp. You guys still think Couturier is worth more then kesler, give your head a shake. Kesler if Canadian would have pushed for a spot on team Canada, hewas the best center on team USA and Patrick Kane has openly said one of the very top players he's ever had the privalege of playing with. I don't think Couturier is even close- he certainly can't skate like Kesler or hit for that matter...

Think they will trade him for Garrison. They wouldn't do it for Hamhuis.

The main difference is- Couturier is 21 years old. Couturier will most likely have more years of success than Kesler although Kesler's peak was quite nice. Not sure if Couturier's prime years will be as good as Kesler's but he will have more years of success. Also, Couturier is indeed Canadian and he does not have attitude issues. Kesler is on a decline while Couturier is trending up, so yes, he is worth more.
VanGnome
Here's what I would be more inclined toward: VAN: S. Morin 1st 2014 (19th overall) 1st 2015 PHI: Kesler Why: Pretty standard package that's been floating around the net, good deal for both sides. VAN: 1st 2014 (1st overall) L. Shaw A. Petrovic FLA: 1st 2014 (6th overall) A. Burrows J. Garrison Why: Florida needs to start winning now, under new ownership they are now a cap spending team and that was evident the moment they traded for Luongo. Garrison had good success along side Campbell. Burrows will most definitely have a bounce back season next year, but I feel like he could use a real change of scenery. In FLA's top six he can pot 40-50 points pretty easily, and immensely helps their PK. Florida also gets their coveted forward in this draft, Ehlers. Vancouver gets a future T4 defenceman with offensive potential in Petrovic and size (6'4, 193), and a future top 9 forward in Shaw with size (6'3, 197lbs) along with the 1st overall to draft Sam Reinhart. VAN: A. Larsson NJD: 1st 2014 (19th overall) F. Corrado Why: Larsson is unhappy in New Jersey, constantly being passed over for good playing time under De Boers. As a former 4th overall, he still has value aside from the fact that he's 21 and 6'3 and 205lbs. Jersey gets a mid round pick that they can use to draft another defenceman (Honka) or a forward (Goldobin, Barbashev etc) along with a promising young defenceman in Corrado. Canucks next year look as follows: Sedin - Sedin - Jensen Horvat - Reinhart - Kassian Booth - Matthias - Santorelli Higgins - Richardson - Hansen Edler - Larsson Hamhuis - Bieksa Stanton - Tanev Lack Markstrom Adding to the system is Petrovic, Morin and Shaw plus whomever we draft with the 2015 draft pick from Philly. Rebuild done with 3 moves. It's a little NHL 14'ish but I can't help but think that these frameworks are at least plausible in their current forms. Hockey Stache
I kinda like Shadowgoon's proposals although I would hope to get a forward from them. I have heard that the Canucks previously did not want Brayden Schenn but I hope new management has changed their minds on that one. I think a package including Kesler and Hansen could help get Van Morin, the picks and Schenn. The second trade to Florida I would do in a heartbeat. I love it. The third trade I am not a big fan of. I think there has to be something holding Larsson back to not be able to crack the New Jersey blueline. I would trade the 19th alone and not include Corrado. New Jersey seems to have soured on Larsson and may be willing to make a swap like that instead.

New Jersey seems to have soured on Larsson and may be willing to make a swap like that instead. I think the Philly deal could be tweaked by swapping the 2015 1st for Schenn and the Canucks adding a little bit, but it kind of creates a log jam at center. Although Reinhart could probably slide over to the 2nd line RW, Schenn over to the LW and have Horvat as the main pivot. That would drop Kassian down to the third line where at the end of this season he formulated some chemistry with Booth and Matthias, Hansen pushed to the 4th line and Santorelli as the odd man out. As for Larsson, I think he was just drafted into a poor situation and the coach has a real hardon for "veteran depth" which is what Schneider has been up against. If it were JUST Larsson, I might be inclined to agree, however with Schneider getting the shaft with Brodeur maintaining his starting role despite having inferior numbers, I have to believe that it's just a needed change of scenery. Sedin - Sedin - Jensen Schenn - Horvat - Reinhart Booth - Matthias - Kassian Higgins - Richardson - Hansen Edler - Larsson Hamhuis - Bieksa Stanton - Tanev Lack Markstrom That's a line up that, while having quite a lot of youth and inexperience, I can live with and I think would actually do quite well; a good mix of veteran leadership and youth skill which can often times rejuvenate the vets. Markstrom is going to impress people next season, season after next when Booth leaves, Shinkaruk should be ready for the show and within 3 seasons the kids take over with the Sedins dropping to the 3rd line, and as Higgins nears his departure Shaw would be ready. As Hamhuis and Bieksa phase out, Morin and Petrovic will be ready to step in, meanwhile year after year competent drafting and development ensure a consistent stream of young skilled talent, keeping the Canucks competitive for a long time.
