I have to admit, it's pretty exciting seeing what young guys like Tarasenko and Forsberg are doing even if they aren't Isles.

Oh, and Hamilton too.

Pretty happy with how Forsberg has panned out. It was tough watching the player I traded (Bjugstad) play last year while Filip was in the minors developing. The patience has paid off.

RE: Connor McDavid dropping the gloves....I think after much bellywhoing by a lot of pundits and such, really two things stick out to me: A)There is, like it or not, fighting in Hockey at the Junior and Pro levels and therefore B)Sometimes a player will be in a position where he may find that a fight is going to happen. Discounting a certain player's 'need' to fight based on their skill level only feeds into the mechanism that allows fighting to exist in the first place. I am decidedly after much thought in the 'good for the goose is good for the gander' camp. Glad Connor dropped em and defended what he thought was a position that needed defending with punches, and anything less would have made him less in my eyes. I am not pro fighting and I am not supporting the culture that exists in Junior and the Pro's where fights happen, and can even be seen to be made to happen, but to elevate any player above that culture that certainly exists only stamps more weight and validity on the culture to exist at the levels below those people. Had Daniel or Hank not taken repeated shots to the face in the SCF in 2011 by literally turning the other european cheek, perhaps we would have had a different result.

So proud of Vladdie, especially because I drafted him, and wanted him badly. I remember other GM's reaming me out for taking him so early (I drafted him at 8th), but I knew he was for me. In hindsight, he was a top 5 pick, but paid the price for being Russian. Those who'd been reading about already knew he was playing Russian hockey with men at the age of 15-16. My late Schwartz selection isn't looking so bad either

Players like Tarasenko, drafted and brought up in our system, are how we resurrected the suffering Bruins (last in league when I took over) years ago. Selections made (drafts and signings) when I took over the team, are how we got ahead.

Looking at our current roster...

Tarasenko - drafted

Schwartz - drafted

Shattenkirk - signed in the minors, waited one year

Sutter - signed to the minors, waited 2 years

Chiasson - signed to the minors, waited 3 years

Lehner - drafted

Perreault - signed to the minors, waited 2 years

King - signed in the minors, waited 2 years

Schlemko - signed to the minors, waited 2 years

Marincin - signed to the minors, waited 2 years

There's almost half of a team FOR FREE. Get your minors working for you!
