The Toronto Maple Leafs are pleased to welcome prospect Tyler Graovac and Nick Ebert to our franchise. We hope they enjoy bright futures with out team. We have been busy in our efforts to continue to get younger, and concluded that we needed to add a near NHL ready forward prospect to our system. We have been impressed with Tyler Graovac's development and felt he was worth paying a significant veteran asset to acquire.

We'd like to thank Primal Optimist - always a pleasure to negotiate with - and Zbynek Michalek for his consistent contributions to our franchise. We wish him the best with the New York Rangers and will miss his veteran presence and solid two way play. We also wish young shutdown defenseman Andrew MacWilliam a bright future with New York.

The New York Rangers and I in particular are happy to announce the arrival of a long coveted player in Zbynek Michalek. We continue to stay our course despite some short term injuries which have left a small gap up front and we have finally added a piece to the blueline that was needed since the offseason. Zbynek is a consummate professional, star defender who rounds out our defensive corps and helps us maintain what is one of the top D's in the league. Zbynek will start on the third pair with Kevin Klein and our new total look at the back end is as follows:

Andrej Sekera, Jake Muzzin

Alexei Emelin, Andrej Meszaros

Zbynek Michalek, Kevin Klein

Connor Murphy

Mike Smith

Chad Johnson

Here at Madison Square Garden we are very proud of our 'build from the backend out' philosophy, one that put us in the playoffs for the first time last season in the GML and one we are confident will see us there again, building towards the ultimate goal of a Cup for the BlueShirts. Welcome Zbynek to the New York Rangers as early as this Saturday Night when he will appear in action for his debut with the New York Rangers!

BIG MOVES IN THE MOTOR CITY
det325.jpg
With the playoff race thickening, and teams in the Eastern Conference gearing up for what looks like another chaotic race to the playoffs, the Detroit Red Wings finally participated in the festivities and managed to pull off one of the Red Wings biggest trades in some time.
The team acquired star forward Jakub Voracek, currently leading the league in scoring and assists. Additionally, the Red Wings added some much needed depth on the blue line, re-acquiring Jordie Benn and bringing in veteran Brad Ference. Both have their contracts expiring at season's end, but provide much needed support to a blue line that has been decimated by injuries and inconsistent play. Adam Cracknell was also acquired in the deal.
One the way to Philadelphia is fan favorite Dustin Byfuglein, who recently signed an extention this past summer. When GM RL. was approached to comment, he mentioned that the position change for Dustin was a huge factor in their decision to explore options with him. Having been paid nearly $6M per season, he was expected to carry the young blue line of the Red Wings and be a pillar for them this season on the back end. However, with him jumping to forward this season, moves had to be made to shuffle the deck and rework the structure of the team in a way that sets them better for the future, as well as competing for a playoff spot.
In addition to Byfuglein, the Red Wings moved young forwards Marcus Foligno and Henrik Samuelsson, alongside Bryan Flynn and a future draft pick. Foligno has been struggling all season and was working his way out of the lineup in Detroit. Samuelsson, on the other hand, is a promising prospect on the cusp of making the NHL, but was moved in order to complete this deal due to the unique skillset brought forward by Voracek.
Below is an updated depth chart for the Detroit Red Wings:
James van Riemsdyk - Zach Parise - Jakub Voracek
Scott Hartnell - Ryan O'Reilly - Patrick Sharp
Chris Higgins - Brock Nelson - Elias Lindholm
Trevor Lewis - Mike Santorelli - Mark Letestu
Drew Miller - Tyler Kennedy
Olli Maatta - Brayden Coburn
Brad Ference - Jordie Benn
Michael Roszival - Mark Boroweicki
Adam Pardy
Jonathan Quick
Jhonas Enroth
The Red Wings are still active on the trade front, exploring options to further build upon this team and make a push in the ultra-competitive Eastern Conference.

Here is your latest Buzz:

-Word out of Columbus is that they are looking to bolster there depth in the bottom six forward group and are willing to part with picks and a Blueliner to make something happen.

-As always OTTS is stirring things up in the sunshine state, but could there be more then just smoke? Sources say a good young forward could be on the move to shake things up.

-And lastly today the Canucks have been public about possible moves if the team doesn't start producing more. My sources say that there may be friction between the Canucks two strong goaltenders and that could precipitate a move. Of course goalie controversy in Vancouver is nothing new.

That's all for today folks, stayed tuned for more news and Buzz!!

First of all on behalf of the Philadelphia flyers I'd like to thank, Jakub Vorachek, Andrew Ferrence, Jodie Benn, and Adam Carknell for their contributions to the organisation and wish them all the best in Detroit

On that note we welcome Dustin Byfuglien, and Marcus Foligno to the Flyers, as well as Henrik Samuelsson and Brian Flynn to our system

Byfuglien is a fantastic versatile player capable of playing all positions, who plays tough hard nose kinda game that our fans like here in Philadelphia

Foligno though off to a slow start is a fantastic young players who should be a staple on the 2nd and 3rd lines for the next couple years

In Samuelsson we get a key part of the deal, a good young forward that we as an organisation can build around, we hope to have him up with the big club very soon

The flyers would also like to recall Matt Dumba from the AHL

The updated roster is as followed

Zetterberg/Koivu/Hemsky

Richards/Desharnais/Zucker

Upsall/Horcoff/Foligno

McCloed/Condra/Dywer

Maholtra

Byfuglien/Widemen

Grossman/Holden

Dumba/Jackman
