theminister
I remember the 2013 draft, I had a late first round pick, and the player I wanted had just gone off the board, along with my Plan B, Plan C and Plan D options. I explored trading the pick but nothing seemed worthwhile so at the last minute I took a shot on a player I hadn't expected to take (as I figured surely one of my first 4 options would be there). That draft pick was Jacob De La Rose. And it's looking pretty solid so far.I have a lot of fun with this game, but I think draft day is easily my favorite CDCGML related day of the year. I'm not joking when I say that it is easily one of my favourite days of the entire year. My birthday sucks by comparison.

theminister
Wow well that OTT - PIT game on Tuesday could be something! Massive. And Washington has two tough games against Det, today, and Bos that are playoff battles of their remaining 3 games, and the 3rd is against the NYR. If they lose all in regulation and the Sens win 3 of 4 then even they are out. Was could even pick up two points in the last 3 games and still miss if Ottawa wins out. Just looking at it again, even the NYI could miss mathematically. Crazy stuff. I can't remember a recent year when so many teams were involved with less than 5 games to go. Usually there are 2-3 in each conference but this is mayhem.

theminister
I'm sure Caboose and the rest of Leaf Nation is hoping the Leafs deal a death blow to the Sens tonight. Because even though it would still be possible to get in, if Ottawa loses this game then they are pretty much done for.

Primal Optimist
Great night in Victoria arenas last night. Royals take their series with PG and head on to face a stiff test in the Rockets. Magee gets his 6th goal of the series to end it in OT after having dumped a puck over into the mesh in the closing minutes of regulation, giving PG a DOG powerplay that they capitalized on to tie it and send it to extra time. Great atmosphere in the Slave-On-Foods arena last night. And accross town, Panorama takes the Hockeyville title for a year and will host the Nucks/Sharks this fall. Sweet. great barn eh? Primal Optimist
Assignment: The Rangers assign Tye McGinn to the AHL. This move fascilitates a spot for incoming waiver wire selection Michael Keranen.
oldnews
great barn eh? love it. very civilized - although almost a bit subdued at times - but the thing I always love are all the kids in the crowd, dancing and having a great time. Alot of grey tops as well (good balanced demographic appeal). Very positive atmosphere - but my favorite part is how kid-centred it can be. Primal Optimist
The next installment will ty in the corresponding NHL team for lottery purposes. I assume C2X and the executive will be going this route again this year as it worked well in the past. For now, this is the final update before the end of regulation games. This update shows Chicago moving ahead of the Oilers in the draft lotto and montreal moving up on Detroit. Of note is that the CBJ's are only 80 points away from the San Jose Sharks who currently occupy the final western wildcard spot. That is the only playoff race that could still see a change in ownership! Good luck to both teams. Of course that race has lotto implications that will affect the order of the bottom half of the draft. theminister
Eddie Lack. That is all. When you took over you didn't have a starting goalie. Now you do. Nice non-trade. Oh, I know how you love you some Swedish Meatball Chef.
Primal Optimist
nicely done last night, boys. I am still shocked by the 25 foot no look redirection pass that fooled Quick to the other twin. Unbelievable except i saw it with my own eyes.
canuck2xtreme
Eddie Lack. That is all. At the end of last season, I was one of the ones that was uncomfortable with a Lack-Markstrom tandem. You could see the talent was there but I just didn't feel confident with that duo. He just didn't seem ready to be the #1 guy. That was then. This is now. Lack is playing much more composed, more confident and more consistent. I'd have absolutely no issue with him being the starter now. But you do wonder what's going to happen... would the team actually look at moving Ryan Miller this summer? I don't know...
Mike Vanderhoek
I appreciate and agree with the team's reasoning for bringing in Ryan Miller, not a player I'd be happy to see leave the team as he is someone who is valuable to this club. However if something opened up in a California market, ok San Jose and they were looking for an established starter I think the team would have to explore such options, not saying they should not bring back Niemi but looks like he is gone after the season.
