I appreciate and agree with the team's reasoning for bringing in Ryan Miller, not a player I'd be happy to see leave the team as he is someone who is valuable to this club.

However if something opened up in a California market, ok San Jose and they were looking for an established starter I think the team would have to explore such options, not saying they should not bring back Niemi but looks like he is gone after the season.

Also, with Eriksson and Demko coming through the ranks, I wonder if the Canucks could flip Jacob Markstrom for something of value, and go with a Miller-Lack tandem and split the starts a bit more evenly next season, see how that goes and make a more concrete decision after next season? Possible, but you also don't want to miss the boat on potential suitors for any of the 3 Canucks goalies this summer. Really it's tough to say without actually knowing how the players feel about the situation and where management is leaning.

I liked the Ryan Miller signing. Still do, really. He's a quality goaltender and he's part of the reason the Canucks are back where we are instead of projecting draft lottery odds like last season (thanks for Jake Virtanen Torts!). But is he better than Lack at this point? I'm not so sure about that anymore.

WAIVERS: The Colorado Avalanche have claimed Jason Akeson and Tyler Gaudet from the Arizona Coyotes via waivers.

We are sad to see Tyler and Jason go but they had been quickly passed by other prospects and we wanted to see if we could give them another chance in another organization.

At the end of last season, I was one of the ones that was uncomfortable with a Lack-Markstrom tandem. You could see the talent was there but I just didn't feel confident with that duo. He just didn't seem ready to be the #1 guy.

That was then. This is now.

Lack is playing much more composed, more confident and more consistent. I'd have absolutely no issue with him being the starter now. But you do wonder what's going to happen... would the team actually look at moving Ryan Miller this summer? I don't know...

That would be my personal preference - that they move Miller at the draft for a pick (or whatever the return) - and not just because I'd then have the Canucks starter (drools), but gotta love Eddie, and they'd then be able to keep both him and Markstrom, they'd have 6 million in cap space to work with. I just don't see the relative advantage of keeping MIller moving forward - although this season he has certainly played a huge role. Converting him into an asset after signing him for nothing and having the benefit of him bridging this season would be a win-win imo. I think Eddie has made it extremely difficult for Benning, although on the counterpoint, he's also run his own market value up considerably, so regardless of what happens, Lack has really been an absolute steal for the franchise.

I think I'm finally comfortable with idea of the Kings not making the playoffs even though I'd lose Clifford, Pearson and Regehr because my opponents stand to lose as much or more from their rosters.

Obviously, if I'm playing OTTS 1st round then I want both the Kings and Sens out.

Quick question...which playoff team in our league has the most Flames?

I dunno about anyone else but I've got Monahan, Diaz and Ferland.

A quick note from me on the Miller to Vancouver signing last summer: I was shocked. We got rid of a long high contract in net and replaced it with a long high contract in net. and not even a younger guy...Miller is 34!!!! Lu is 36 so i guess we got a couple years younger. I figured we would have spent the netminding money on a sniper or two upgrade and brought in a capable netminder to tandem with lack. It was the most expected move, I thought, until Miller was signed.

With literally every team in the league in action on Saturday, tonight and Friday seem so anticlimactic. Tonight Washington could help the Sens, and every other playoff team by beating Boston. Both Thursday and Saturday seem full of excitement, with Friday's barn burner being a game between the Penguins and the Islanders...neither team has clinched yet.

As it stands going into today's games the Columbus Blue Jackets are trailing the San Jose Sharks by 62 points for the last Wild Card spot in the Western Conference.

It will be a fun race to the finish and I know my team will give everything they got over the next four days to run down the Sharks and I have been very happy overall with their performance. Going from the last team in the league last season to fighting for a playoff spot has been a nice turnaround for the franchise and if we get in the players deserve all the credit.

Bring it on "That Mike"
