Robongo
So Virtanen is looking like he will make a deep team Canada as an 18 year old and there's STILL some people tossing themselves over the bridges with this pick? What's a local power forward got to do to win over the crowd around here? Score a hattrick every game
LeanBeef
Don't like the idea of putting Virtanen with Ritchie. If they were on the same WHL or NHL team, awesome. However, it's the IIHF. Both guys are going to feed off of each other's adrenaline and focus on running around destroying guys. One of them is going to steamroll some little Czech kid and get a 5 min penalty and TC could lose the game. Canada is good enough to win on skill alone. Let the hits come when they come. When Kassian and Foligno were together they were dominant. Hitting everything in sight while creating chances with Johansen/Cizikas. Would be nice to see two more skilled players in Virtanen and Ritchie do the same.... Minus the suspension that Kassian had

What's a local power forward got to do to win over the crowd around here? For starters, he has to win the following awards: Hart Art Ross Ted Lindsay Rocket Richard Conn Smythe (while scoring 9 goals per game) Selke Calder Norris (that's right) Vezina Jennings Jack Adams He also has to become Canucks GM, get in a time machine and: Undo the Neely trade Undo the Hodgson trade Undo the Schneider trade or draft Nichushkin Re-sign Ehrhoff Re-sign Torres Draft Jagr Draft Kopitar Draft Lucic Draft Karlsson Draft Gallagher Draft Saad Draft Nylander or Ehlers Not draft Patrick White Not draft Alexandre Mallet Beat up Marchand Beat up Keith Beat up Messier Beat up Keenan Edited December 17, 2014 by Brad Marchand

Geordie and Torie Robertson.........take alook at their careers.........Totally different.......look at Geordie's junior playoff points.......look at the size difference..................lol...............Take my word for it............Torie was not someone to play around with......pretty funny guy though. J.I.A.H.N
Just want to make an obvious point about prospects, CDC and the NHL I surely don't understand all the experts on here that say "you are wrong" or "he's an over payment" or "he's not good" or what ever...........If the NHL GM's and Scout's can get it wrong, how in the heck can you call someone else an idiot, or tell them they don't know...........what makes you guys think you are smarter than those GM's and Scouts??? It is hard man! Just think who Holland has passed on over the years, or Toronto thinking Orr wasn't good enough? And the list goes on and on! And you guys, and you know who you are, sit back and say you know! LOLOLLOLOOOLOOLOOLL Really???? Back to Jake!............sure hope he turns out! ......Right! Mr.53
Jake Virtanen is turning out to be one hell of a pick. I know it's early but I believe in this kid. So rarely do you find a player with seriously all the tools to be an impact, who is still on the younger end of his class, and from your hometown? Elite Speed Elite physicality Elite shooting ability Great hands Great finishing ability He can show he can play either wing effectively Showing this year there is more to his game than just north south goal scoring, and adding some playmaking NHL ready size and getting bigger. (stronger, and faster might I add) This among other feats, I honestly believe with some refinement I could honestly see Virtanen becoming an all star one day. What else could you ask for in a 6th overall pick. Edited December 17, 2014 by TheLiveWire

Plum
Reminds of a one-way Jeff Carter except on the wing but Virtanen is 6'1, Jeff is 6'4. Edited December 17, 2014 by Plum
guntrix
Ritchie is Bernier 2.0. But in the juniors, he's a solid addition if he doesn't take too many dumb penalties. Glad I'm not the only one that thinks this. And to think that half of CDC wanted this guy.
