NHL'er
I can't see any of the vitriol comments towards her. Were the disproportionate? Anyone have examples?
Kanuck_Krazy
I think people are getting things confused. Jake Virtanen going out with some friends should not be criticized. Jake Virtanen the 5th overall pick should. With what one can assume is a healthy Michael Ferland coming back into the fold Jake should be worried about his roster spot more then ever. You would hope he's going all out trying to get better. Well see.

Hairy Kneel
Young guys are going to escape the bubble when games start. That's why I think they should play here and not TO. Higher risk there.

Well then you're not really focused on the fact that it's totally different in the here and now. Look...do we have to vilify Jake? No. Can we comment on how we feel his actions are a bit selfish and irresponsible without it meaning we're down on the guy? Yes Love Jake, but think it's a boneheaded move to club when so much is at stake. I feel that way about anyone rushing back into the club scene...it hasn't fared well in other places. Bo has a new baby at home. Brock has a father with a compromised immune system. So it's thinking outside of "self" that's part of being a team player. This virus means we could carry it unknowingly and spread it before it's realized. I've "wanted" to do many things lately but think of my Dad and how I could impact him through my actions. 1
old guy
quijibo You need to start reading more than just the mainstream media. "The Centers for Disease Control Director Robert R. Redfield now estimates that about 20 million Americans have had and recovered from COVID-19. That means this deadly disease does not have a fatality rate of 6 percent but of 0.6 percent. And among young people the fatality rate is magnitudes lower than that." https://www.aier.org/article/why-we-should-not-be-concerned-about-increasing-covid-19-cases-in-texas/ There are many analyses by credentialed people not being presented in the establishment mainstream that show that the actual mortality rate is even lower than stated above. In fact the flu of 1967/68 and the one of 1958 had mortality rates substantially higher than this one and that was when the population was much younger and healthier. There were some puffed-up experts at agencies such as the World Health Organization and the US Center for Disease Control who in the beginning just pulled unscientific nonsense out of their rear ends. The media ran with it and the politicians were panicked by it as was the general population. You don't see people dropping dead all over the place. But so much damage has been done by a very inappropriate response and people aren't going to admit to it. And now it has become completely a politicized narrative that has intentions for things other than health. Sure (no). 50,000 new cases in the US yesterday. Let's wait until the official count is "over" before we compare. 1

Honestly is seems like it's the Canuck fans that can't take the heat so everyone had to go and threaten her. If it wasn't a big deal the team wouldn't have to talk to Jake, right? And for all those that say as long as he shows up in shape it's ok, well that's a big if with Virtanen.
old guy
"At the beginning of the crisis, scientists failed to collectively ask basic questions like “does this thing grow exponentially”, said Professor Levitt, Robert W. and Vivian K. Cahill professor in cancer research at Stanford University. Physicists and theoretical chemists “who understand trajectories” were often better qualified to analyse the pandemic than epidemiologists, who “see their job not as getting things correct, but preventing an epidemic”, leading them to overstate the threat, he argued in a debate on the role of science in a crisis. “We should never have listened to the epidemiologists,” Professor Levitt said. “They have caused hundreds of billions of dollars’ worth of suffering and damage, mainly on the younger generation,” he said. “It’s going to make 9/11 look like a baby story.”
