Jake is subject to such a double standard it's almost sickening.

Hes had not a great camp no doubt. But it's nothing more than that imo. I know we're all excited, and it's all we have right now, but these days need to be taken with a grain of salt. Is anyone expecting demko to start over markstrom? Is anyone expecting Eriksson and beagle to lead the team in scoring? Is anyone expecting petey to go scoreless?

I hope not. So why are we benching jake after day 4 of training camp?

Loads of players are off to a "slow" start. Let's relax. This kid would have been a 40 point player this year. May  I remind you he's the same age as OJ who has yet to play an nhl game...

How is it a double standard?

Are fans treating Ericksson and Benn better than Jake?

What I find funny about this fanbase, is that they are as whitebread as the Sedins.

We love our Sedins eating punches from ratboy, but we hate our Torres/Rome/Alberts, (until Alberts gets injured, then we love him again)

That I don't understand.

We like our goalies to be big, and our D-men to be small.

We love our Lalondes and Manyukins, but not our Jakes and Cams

I heard the audio from yesterday but only the video of the Tanev goal.

Personally if Jake was POed because he got walked, I think that is a good thing, and if Horvat doesn't like it he should put his fist in Jake's mouth, not swear at him and tell him to relax. That is why I didn't like Schally McShaller, telling the other team to relax on the ice.

If Jake is running around hitting guys cuz he got embarrassed, that is a good thing.

Bo talking without action, not so much

anybody got a video of the whole thing?

I agree with yung1. I think being from the lower mainland, Jake is too comfy here. He still hangs with his long-time friends, and there's nothing wrong with that, unless it affects your play or your team. I wonder if he lived in Columbus, Ohio and played under Torts, would he be so carefree? It took Miller a while to mature as well, but it wasn't until he was traded for him to raise his game. Jake might be what he is here.

I have a hard time believing this stuff. Virtanen was well on his way to a 50 point season. Getting 2PP time. Jake is the type of player Van has to have to be a serious CUP contender. The fact that he is a local kid is a bonus.

I particularly don't understand the accusations of double-standards when all of the controversy surrounding Jake is self-inflicted.

We have a ton of young guys in the city right now taking part in team activities. So many players who could make headlines for the wrong reasons. Yet we're always hearing about the usual suspect.

Nailed it. At this point he still needs constant attention, which must be exhausting if I were the coach and maddening! All the raw talent but no drive or will of his own. Maybe too harsh? I don't mean to be. He's still on a 40 point pace! But when you have Pods, Tofolli, Boeser, MacEwan, on and on...and Jake still coasting makes you think he just doesn't get it. He's very on and off, and needs constant handling by the coaching staff.

Honestly if we trade him he will still be a very good player for any team, and maybe he will be a power house one day...but will he miss the boat on our teams peak? He has a chance right now to mesh with a group that is uber dedicated and wants to win the cup. The players coming up behind him are just as hungry...anyways, hope he comes out and has a solid playoffs for us! Still love him, i'd rather him mature with our group than with another i'll say that!

Eriksson?  Someone slap green in the face!!  :picard:

He is one of our best defensive forwards and pk'ers, by all accounts has been one of the hardest working players in camp and Green has him in literally the last spot, on the 4th/checking line.

Just ignore his contract.

Edit: He's also likely one of the first guys out if Ferland is healthy.
