I hope we develope Jake in the minors for a couple years unless he comes to camp and blows away management with his play! The kid has major talent and I just hope we don't rush him into the lineup!

Too many guys ahead of him next season.

We've got Burrows, Vrbata, Kassian, Dorsett, and Hansen all on right wing.

Then on left wing we have Daniel, Matthias (if re-signed), Higgins, Baertschi, and Kenins.

I don't see Jake taking a spot from any of those guys out of juniors.

Meant kelowna sorry, but which of our tops chl guys do you see getting games in Utica?

All of our CHL guys have a chance to go deep so it's hard to say.

I would say McEneny is the most likely. Followed by Subban

As far as Virtanen, Cassels, McCann go, they're all on really good teams, and might not be available for awhile. If I had to pick one team going out first it would be the Hitmen. So Virtanen is a possiblity in a couple months, depending on how deep the Comets go.

How in the hell can you say that with any degree of certainty? To me, logic leads me to assume that if he plays more he will score more and I'd say that would hold true for just about anybody in hockey. Even god dam Biz Nasty will improve on his abysmal numbers if he played 15 minutes per night, it's just bound to happen. The odd second assist, lucky bounce in front of the net, etc...

Or Biznasty is unable to capitalize on his extra minutes on a consistent basis to raise his points per 60

Sedins play less minutes this year than last but have more points - it's not always about the minutes you get

Can either statement really be an absolute? Seems like we should take solace in the fact he has a high p/60min. I'm just interested to watch Virtanen after a full summers training, wherever he plays. Because I believe he'll be good for the Canucks in the future. I trust JB to make the right decision on wherever he is next year.

Yeah I'm happy that he has a high p/60min but I think given his inconsistency (not on the scoring sheet in 40% of the games), playing more minutes will actually decrease, not increase, his p/60min if he played monster minutes like some of the other junior star players. That being said, I have no problems with Jake and think he has a great future with this team, and I also happen to think he was the BPA at #6. I just didn't like people talking trash about another team's prospect (Bennett) who is clearly an elite prospect as a way of defending Jake against some trolls. You don't need to shoot down another team's top prospect to make Jake look good

Trade him for a high pick this year, pick up Marner or Barzal.

lul or just draft Barzal where we are at. Or instead pick up a defenseman, since that's what we desperately need.

To statwatchers: He scored today. Power play snipe from the hashmarks. Assisted by Sanheim.

Big difference between Marner and Barzal. Marner will likely go top 6 while Barzal is probably in the 8-12 range. You could probably trade Jake for a pick in that range (though I personally wouldn't) but there's no way you'll get a top 6 pick for him in this year's draft.

Yup, Marner is going top 5, he's my favorite prospect, if Oilers pick #3 they will take Hanifin so then we should trade Virtanen+ for #4 and take Marner.

Virtanen alone might/probably would get us in range to take Barzal, which is a move I think I would probably make, Barzal was serious talent & upside.

Marner is the one I would like most, more than Barzal, and I imagine it would take atleast Virtanen to move up and get him.

Besides Barzal won't be available at 19, nor will some of the better defenseman like Provorov or Roy, we will need to trade up for one of them.

Barzal hasn't scored a goal this month and scored just one in February, even though he leads all WHL forwards in icetime per game. He'll be available where we are at. Not that we should pick him up over the bpa, which will hopefully be a defenseman. Marner will probably end up in Toronto. He is not worth trading up for. Only Eichel, McDavid and Hanifin are, and they will be too expensive to get.Trading up in the draft is what you do for these kind of players, not players like Marner or Barzal.

Benning attempted to get Ekblad, because he knew that Ekblad would be a great player who fills a desperate need here. Marner as a playmaking winger isn't what we need. We got Sven Baertschi now. Sven. Baertschi.

There will be some other very good defensemen available to us where we are at.

Okay, so Jake scored again today. Is it safe to come back in here yet? Have the panty-soilers left or calmed down?

Oh look, a trade proposal -- guess not.

I seriously can't believe there's already discussion about trading Virtanen.

Are some people that impatient/paranoid? Or do they always just assume every other prospect will turn out better.

Barzal is a playmaker, Henrik Sedin hasn't even scored 20 goals 3 times in his career, means nothing.

I would be willing to bet Barzal won't be available at #19 which is where we currently pick.

Although honestly, I'm not sure I would trade Jake to get Barzal, I don't think the pick needed to get Barzal would be high enough to justify trading Virtanen but I would for Marner.

Those player aren't the only players you trade up for, those are actually the players you can't trade up for, in a draft like this players like Marner & Barzal are absolutely worth trading up, in a normal year both are slam dunk top 5 picks, Marner would probably be in the race for #1 in any normal year. He outscore Hall, Tavares & Seguin in there draft years.

And Benning wanted Reinhart, not Ekblad, that was well known.

As much as Jake's potential is intriguing, if there was ever a chance to move him and get a player like Marner its something JB should be all over.

OT: Nice goal he scored today

Do not want marner!! Do we forget the need for size in the WC? Anaheim, La, San Jose

When you are talking about a player with his ability size is a non issue, its like saying you don't want Giroux because you have LA, SJ & Anaheim in the division, its absurd.
