It's been said a few times in this thread but I'd love to see a baerschi-Horvat-Virt line. The speed on the wings could be a ton of fun to watch.

WAAAAAY too young. I like the make-up and idea, but a vet per line is a must with 19/20 year olds. Takes pressure off, keeps them accountable for the little things

I've said it once and I'll say it again. Jake will either become a dominant power forward ala Lucic (minus the fighting ability) or become another Raffi Torres.

While i get what youre saying, raffi torres has had a solid nhl career. Without Torres, the nucks dont get to the 7th game of the scf.

Torres was taken 5th overall. Effective player yes, but for a guy taken that high he has underwhelmed offensively his entire career. From what we've witnessed from Jake is he isn't tremendously skilled nor does he have the vision/IQ to make players around him better. His shot, size, and presence in front of the net is how he is going to score goals. Can he do that consistently at the NHL level? Stay tuned.

If thats what virt becomes, id still be happy as Torres occupies a role not many do. In fact, id argue that Torres has a bigger impact on games than a middle of the road offensive player. When Torres is out there, the othervteam knows it and adjusts their play

you obviously have no clue about virtanen he hits like a train with beat u with his speed score and fight his upside coukd max out at a perry lucic combo hybrid player at worst hes a decent second line mucker and clutch energy player

It all depends on how his development goes.

Corey Perry played 2 more seasons of junior after he was drafted before getting a bit of time in the AHL. He was putting up 2.0 PPG average in his last season of junior.

Rushing Jake into the NHL this season could very well limit his ofensive game to that of a third line winger. Sending him back to junior however may end up being the best thing for him. It all depends on how patient management is willing to be with him.

I personally think there's alot more he can accomplish in junior. Just because he's physically ready to be in the NHL doesn't mean he's ready.

The good thing about Jake is that we wont have to teach him how to muck it up, hit and play with fire and intensity. Teaching him how to play with linemates, work the cycle and having confidence in his offensive game can easily be done through proper development.

Highly doubt he lasts more than 9 games this year, why burn a year on him when he can go back to junior, hopefully dominate then be ready next year when we get Looch and another stud FA d-man. :frantic:

Muckers and energy players are often 4th line players. I don't see much Cory Perry in his game either.

There are definitely alot of similarities.

Not just their ability to get under their opponents skin, but their skating and ability to snipe.

That being said we're talking about a Rocket Richard winner, we need to temper our expectations a bit. I think Virtanen still needs to round out his offensive game more at the junior level.

Not to mention I think Kenins and Grenier can fill that energy role this season, and have earned that opporunity.

I'm sure this would cause a hue and cry around here but I think you are correct.

We don't need to be like the Oilers and rush guys in prematurely so that they can get hurt and lose their confidence, the older prospects such as those you've mentioned should be the ones getting a look, I'd also include Gaunce who will certainly get some NHL games this year.

It only took a couple games for Green to put those 2 on opposite wings and he's been as stingy with the ice time as WD.

Since then I think the strategy with him has been, drop the reigns and see how fast this kid can go. He isn't disappointing so far.

Sutter as a center would look good between those 2 as well, as long as Baertschi takes on the playmaker role.

I don't think people want to rush him. If he is ready then I think we should play him, if he isn't I won't lose sleep if he returns to Jr.

As a 6th overall pick I'd be pissed especially if Nylander, Ehlers, or Ritchie end up Top 6 NHL players.

Youd be pissed with a guy who has a long impactful career? Torres may not have scored a bunch, but his impact on games was/is significant. Obviously I want JV to be a multi faceted player, but i wont complain about getting a torres type either.

he's not the only one. Would I be upset with a Torres player? No. Would I be upset with a Torres player when we could have had a skilled top line scorer (if someone turns into that) yes.
