Larkin is a pleasant surprise (not that he wasn't good, but no one expected him to be that good that early).  Canucks didn't pass on Larkin, he just wasn't in contention for top 10 overall at that time.  Plus surprise, surprise, Larking was paired with Zetterberg and later on with Datsyuk.  Here don't we dare giving our highest pick in years play with great players like the Sedins.    I think we are missing the boat, we have the two greatest Canucks on the team and we are not using them to mentor our high profile prospects.  Virtanen is a shooter and need to be fed, he's not a playmaker with great vision, he needs to feed of his linemates.

Ehler started well when teams were still rusty and systems weren't in place.  Now we are starting to see that size will be a problem for him in the long run.  Doubt he's ever a 1st liner.

Nylander hasn't played an NHL game, how can we judge him yet?

If Dal Colle was available at 6 we would probably have taken him before Virtanen.  Imagine the chaos on CDC if that would have happen and we had passed on Virtanen lol

He's not just good enough to play with the Sedins offensively and even defensively and positionally, and cycle is very new to him

Larkin on Virtanens position might have even done better.

Any way to check on his FO % in junior?  Was it a problem, or is this just a case of him needing to add a few pounds and develop some man strength. He has good hands and a quick stick, so you would think he could develop better results. You know with his determination the lack of results are not because of lack of effort or drive.  Unfortunately it is a big issue, especially with Sutter out and three of our current centres at or below 40%, and the team trailing the league.

Like Cassels, he was counted on for important draws for his team.

jared is a cool kid.

Yesterday I said "Team Canada misses ya" he smiled, another guy then asked me, "who won the game?!"  Jared responded by saying shoot out win, kid is actually following the tournament, like all of us.

listed as 6'0, to be honest, he looks at least 6'1.

On a side note, are McCann, Virtanen, and Hutton still stay in a hotel? or has the team arranged for them to have apartments?

I think McCanns future is going to be on the winger. He can't win a face-off and I believe his shot would be better used if people were setting him up as opposed to the opposite

Just listen to Willie's most recent video before tomorrow's game. It appears from listening and reading between the lines that he intends on sitting out players like McCann on a more regular basis, saying how hard it is for the young guys , and sometimes playing them every day isn't the best for their development.  He said they were going to come up with a plan, and I think this is a set up so there will be fewer questions asked when we can comes out of the lineup.

Certainly he has cooled off offensively, and with his known face-off issues, it wouldn't be unreasonable to see him rotated out.  As much as I love watching him develop, and he has certainly done so in other areas, I  agree that this might be a good thing right now.

When I heard that, my first reaction was "you mean you didn't already have a plan for him?".

I think they probably did have a plan but it went out the window with all the injuries. Still, it sounded strange.
