Katobaron
Pretty sure there's bigger problems then smoking plants in Russia right now... Sounds to me like someone who has no interest in coming back but doesn't want to burn bridges just in case. If he does come back in three years he'll be a 26 year old defenseman not used to North American ice with a track record of poor commitment to both the team and his own physical fitness. At this point I'd take picks for him and call it a high risk/reward pick gone wrong. Can't win em all!

Popular Post skategal
The full article from the interview - translated with my friend Google so it's not an easy read. he Russian giant from "Motorist" - about the return to the KHL, work with Vladimir Krikunov , comparisons with Zdeno Hara and the skill of the brothers Sedin RUSSIAN - You are not afraid that the KHL was slightly transformed during your absence: there are SKA and CSKA, which have dimensionless steep compositions, and there are all the rest? - And than they differ? The same legs and arms. I agree that SKA and CSKA have a very good selection of players, but they are the same people as us. - With whom then "Motorist" will play in the Gagarin Cup final? "Whoever gets caught will get caught." - You were not offered to go to one of the army teams? - I belong to the "Motorist". Therefore, I did not consider transitions, even if the rights were exchanged.Especially learned that I'm going home, to my own club. - Your countryman Pavel Datsyuk repeatedly said that he was always drawn to his homeland. - Life without Russians - finish. And what pulls home - it's absolutely normal. Then my hometown, my native team, which gave me life in hockey. - And why the contract for three years? "I thought it was the optimal time." For a year I did not want to, for two - also seemed a little. At three - a good contract. - In three years, the rights to you will still belong to "Vancouver" . - What, did not go up, did it? Well, what - I will not say that the "Canucks" is a bad team or something. However, I can not say that I will go overseas in three years or, conversely, I will not go. Maybe I'll have a brick on my head, and I'll stay a fool. Let's see how I'll play by that time. If I need it, and we'll get along under some conditions - everything can be. But this is still far away. - One of the Vancouver portals recently conducted a survey about you, and 51 percent believe that you will not return. - All. So they decided ( laughs ). Let's see more. I will be honored in three years - and everything will be.And now it makes no sense even to think. All the same the contract. - You can also terminate it. - No, I do not like these things. Signed - then I must work. Especially since I like everything. "VANCOUVER" - "Canucks" in this offseason have improved not bad. - We did a lot of breeding work. And the coaching staff was replaced almost completely. I hope that Travis Green will succeed. "He worked in Utica." And you did not reach it. "I know him from the training camp." We even exchanged a few phrases with him. Nice man. "Willy Desjardins unpleasant?" "He's normal." - What did Alexander Burmistrov wish after the transition to Vancouver? "They did not communicate with Burmistrov , but I congratulated him." And so - in touch with Kolya Goldobin . I wonder how he will go in this camp, because I'm for the Russians. I want our guy to be in the main team. He's good, talented, fast. - I talked with Desjardins in the summer, and he said that Goledobin needs to grow up. - Damn, I'm certainly not a coach, but, in my opinion, Kolya should be allowed to play. He is small, brisk, his hands are in order, and he knows how to score goals. Vaughn, in the first match scored, and after that he was sentenced to ten minutes. So what is this? Where is the logic? Especially since the team was finishing the season. Then, "Arizona" scores - he again put. He scores in Edmonton in the last game - we score together, went out in fact in one link, because in three games - he is again saddled. If a person does not play, how will he grow up? How do you understand that he can play? "Are you back for the same reason?" - I have many times been superfluous. Yes, not even a lot - almost always me. And did not understand why. I spend a good game, and for five or seven minutes to the end I'm put on the bench without any explanation. It was very strange. "You said Dejardin was very straightforward and open." Still did not explain? - I talked to him one on one. I could ask him anything. They even told me: "How do you ask such things?". Well, what should I do? I train, work, that's why I come to the coach, asking when I will play. I did not come to sit there. - General manager Jim Benning claimed that you left for family reasons. Smoothed corners? - Family were also. And hockey. Everything in the aggregate gave such a result. "Vancouver offered a two-year unilateral contract. - Offered. - In "Motorist" more money was given? "And I did not return home because of money." But because I want to play. Play a lot. Then I get game time, and they trust me. In "Vancouver" I did not have this. I could get less time there at first, but it must have been growing. That just did not grow. While there were many injuries to the defenders. - After the first matches for "Motorist" you had less playing time than in "Vancouver". I still thought: why should you ever come back? - After the first match, it was still possible to think of something like this: there I had about 13 minutes to accumulate. But we then played in four pairs. 60 divided by four - his own, in general, and played.Well, then it's normal - for 20 or more minutes. I just like to play a lot. Then through the games you get more, learn more. CRYCONS - Vladimir Krikunov is famous for his straightforwardness. - A good coach. I went to the table on foot - he was already the main one, he speaks for himself.Experience - above the roof. Mutual understanding with the team with him. It's all right. - In "Motorist" you began to throw twice as much as in "Vancouver". - So they say to me: if there is a moment - charge. It could be and more often, but it is also such that the whole game under the gate goes. I will not scream: "Ale, go, I'm running." I like to throw. And scoring goals - even more like it. - But the first goal after the return you "Ak Bars" is not in his style scored: in the passage from the gate to the gate. My eyes caught on my forehead. What was it? - At us from attacking at meeting before a match demanded to climb on gate. I climbed - and scored.Well turned out. - Krikunov asks you to connect more often? - Hockey is changing. Connect the fourth - every coach will ask. It happens that you should not even attack at all, especially if the account does not allow. But if the situation requires it, you can beat, run, drag the puck into the zone. However, to carry the puck does not ask. On the contrary, he says that everyone should do their own thing. The attackers have some tasks, the defenders have others. But you can help each other. - You were somehow put on the attack - even before departure. - We have received two central injuries. We decided which of the defenders to deliver. They set me up.I was very tired then. They run a lot. - Hard to carry your weight? Well, the game of defense and attack is very different. And my weight to carry for me was never a problem - even with my kilograms. Just the style in the attack is a bit different. We must run, hit and then run back again. Where so many actions ( smiling )? And in defense - just to hit, and all. - How much do you weigh now? We wanted to throw a few pounds from 120. - It's now 114. - It became better? - Of course better. To itself try a pancake on a body to hang up. I am much behind the ocean in terms of nutrition. I now like to eat something that does not give fat mass. I do not need it at all. - Have you abandoned fast carbohydrates? - Yes, not that I refused. If I want to, we'll sing. When you infringe yourself in something, and you drool run - you need to do something. I can eat sweets with tea at nine in the evening. But this happens every two months. I ate, I satisfied my desire - and all, you are pleased. Training a lot of burning, a lot also need to keep, but the main thing in general - not to leave the table like a bubble. To sit down later - and sit, cuck. I at the beginning of last season very seriously rebuilt the food. I wanted to play, and there was simply no choice, but I am very happy about it. And the weight then dropped, and the percentage of fat decreased - to 12.5 percent. It was 14.5. And literally in about three weeks. And I threw off two kilograms. When you look at what you eat, everything is fine. - Tyler Segina percentage of fat during the season drops to three. - Everyone has his own metabolism. Someone can burgers kilograms of guzzling, and he will not have anything. In principle, the NHL is dried. Three are, of course, very few. We, in my opinion, had Miller and Sutter in the vicinity of six. So they are generally dry. It's cool, it's worth it, that they keep themselves in that form. I, too, try to keep myself on the same level. Because otherwise ... I do not want to go through the second round. - And what really happened in Vancouver, when they wanted to send you to a farm club? Jason Botchford, a local journalist, told me that the whole thing was overweight. "Say hello to him from me." This was not due to weight. They were unhappy with my condition. But I worked, argued, tried. They said: go to the AHL, play there. That's just the other end of the mainland: fly six hours to New York, then three hours by car to play one or two games on the weekend and go back? What could they give me? What are the game conditions? I trained a lot, this gave me a lot. He went out for training for half an hour, stayed after, with the guys did something, separately with the coach was engaged. After he walked into the hall, he twisted a bicycle. I wanted to prove that they are wrong. "And in January, Desjardins declared that he was wrong. "I actually proved it." Well done, Dejardin, admitted that he was mistaken. Self-critical person ( laughs ).I had moments when I did not understand it a little, but everything was more or less normal. BEAR - When you left, Oleg Gross said, they say, throw, what he still NHL. "I do not believe he did not believe in me." You deceive me ( smiles ). - Not only he was in doubt about this. - When we lost in the playoffs - on the other side I had contact. And there was not even any talk about the AHL. Immediately promised that they would play. Not that I'm the second Brent Burns . But since they said "come on, come, everything will be fine," then why stay at home for a month and a half? The season is over. Thought, collected things, said goodbye to his wife and went. The first match I remember as yesterday - with the "Colorado" was the case. It was a great day. A big event in the life of every hockey player. The first game in the NHL is unforgettable. When you go out on the ice, and there are 20 thousand people. They still yelled at everything-my heart nearly jumped out of me. - You then played out another - released on the ice one on the pre-match rolling. - It's not like a rally. Custom, rather. Above all newcomers are joking. Two weeks before, one of the young people in Vancouver made his debut, and I saw him ride alone before the match without a helmet. And then they say to me: "Let's hold the helmet." Well, hold on. And then: "Let's go first." I knew that something would happen, so there was no special surprise. - You in Vancouver piled a bunch of nicknames. "As soon as they called us." Trick , Nicky , "Big Russian", "Crusher", "Russian Bear". The train was still called. " Train " type. "The train" moved him, "" Bear "nailed," - such was said. - Did not you ask for less body training? So as not to kill anyone. - So there are such training ... There were, of course, and on martial arts. But there are so few of them. If you have paired matches at one o'clock in the afternoon - what training there is. If only to sleep, to have a rest, to leave fresher. In the training camp - that's where it was, you could poke. Only there a man arrived. Where so much? - It's fun. "I was not at all happy." I worked, I had a miracle-gathering there. He was very nervous. For the first time in the camp, I do not understand what to do, I'm worried, I do not even know the language. Full and large "opa". - They say you were afraid of you at the end of last season. After a fight with Benn and left the ice on a stretcher Richardson. "Why did Richardson do it? I do not understand." Why began to sit down under me - still a mystery. For what? I took two steps, but was not at high speed, so he threw me. Yes, and he could not throw me, haha. I honestly felt sorry for him. I did not even understand what happened. And then I was interrupted during a break by the trainer on the video and showed it. I saw what happened to Richardson's leg, and I almost pissed at the keyboard. - Did you notice that you started to shun? When Milan Yurchina came to the KHL, the little guys tried to stay away from him. The same Panarin drove around the great arc. - Well, Panarin anyone you want on a big arc will go around. It was never a big job for him. No, when you use force receptions every match - you remember. On the video study. If they were afraid, then it was for what. In the KHL, of course, there is more room for maneuver for the attackers. And there is less ground, and if you brought the striker to the board - he will not go anywhere. And here like and brought, but this extra meter makes itself felt. In the NHL if you catch up, and you still bring the player, then it only through the glass remains to jump out. Or in the penalty box to run to escape from the collision. Here, probably, I have less power, but I try. Not that I want to cripple someone, no, but to conduct a good power - it's the same thing that drives the team. Guys immediately try to support the initiative. This is always beneficial. You will meet someone - he will think next time whether to climb or not to climb. - In the NHL, any specific instructions on this score received? - Nothing concrete. I had one moment with Desjardins: a man was rolling with a puck aboard, and I had a good position to attach it. I rolled over, met him, but he slipped. Willie walked over and said: "He should have stayed there, sticking out of the side." I change through the shift, there is a very similar situation, and I drop the opponent. He drove up to the bench, he told me: "Well, another matter." There generally the attitude to hits is different. At home you play, you hit someone at the side, our pucks were picked up - and the stands roar, everyone yells, they drive the team. On the wave someone else as "give". And it seems that the fans will start fighting right now. Culture is different. For them, this show - and I like it. - But Vancouver is something different from many other cities in terms of sickness, there is always noisy. From the same Toronto is different, where entirely corporate sectors and silence. - It's great in Vancouver. After the power, throws - all yelling, the bar hit - "vaaaau." And some other sounds begin. And after the hits against the background of these very sounds, you even get adrenaline in your blood. There was a game where six or seven power tricks I had, after which the opponent lay. Just after this match, in my opinion, I was called "train" or "krasher". Here you slapped one, and he threw the partner puck - so you run and then the second under the "distribution". Picked up the puck, ran into the attack, the throw, and all - the ecstasy in the stands. Well, it's cool. And you already look - who else would give something. Whom to slam, so that yours will not stop. "Dejardin said that if you so" give away "power tricks and generally play with such anger and aggression all the time, as sometimes it turns out, you'll finish playing before the first pair of any NHL club. - Yes? Need to remember. Then I'll ask him. HARA - With your huge dimensions - often problems with equipment arose? Shields to pick up, cowards, skates. "There were never problems with the scutes." But with skates - yes. Years in 15 began when the leg overgrew the 46th size. It is now in the store you can find the 47th, but not then. The benefit of our children's school ordered. They drove from Switzerland and Finland. For which thanks to her. Now I have the 48th size. "What about the clubs?" "What about the clubs?" I took the log harder and run. Well, I broke them often. So it turned out. There were a lot of dumb things. - The length is special. In the NHL, it is limited to 63 inches, but if you are two meters tall and taller, you can 65-inch stalk, like Zdeno Hara . "His paddle, of course, is decent." I have his stick. It is longer than the ones I play. There is a special form, fill it, send it to the NHL and get permission. But at me a stick from the standard - on 20 centimeters is more and more rigid on all length. Well, and saw off. Because of my growth, I could play with this. I do not know how they measure it, but it was also in the KHL when they introduced discipline on clubs. I was measured, sent the size of the league - it was before departure was. - How hard are the sticks to take? - Well, not the maximum, but enough. So that they do not fly like chips. If you take a softer - fly. And it is difficult to control it then. Someone likes soft. We Ovechkin - I do not know, someone told me - the rigidity of 77. I - 117 (close to the maximum rigidity -. Note "SE". ). These are generally different things. And he "sews" it so that God forbid everyone to "sew" like that. - Ovechkin breaks 200 sticks per season. "Maybe I'll start that soon." If I throw more I will. - At the Vancouver inter-command competition for the most powerful click, what place did they take? - And I was sick with pigs when we had Supersquills. But that's how it would normally load. I could enter this competition, because they somehow are very simple-hearted to this disease. In Russia, everyone knows that adults do not tolerate it very well. My treatment lasted nine days. And then they tell me: "Come out." I said: "I still have a chin sagging, where will I go?". And I really have tonsils - like tomatoes were. That's no shame - my face was as if I had gained 30 kilograms. Where to go out somewhere? Have you lost your mind, have you? SEDINA - Growth in general was the object of jokes? Did not ask to get the sparrow? - Well no. I really liked how I was greeted overseas, how they treated me. All very kind, help is always ready. Both veterans and youth. They asked whether we should give a lift, whether something was necessary for me. All without problems. There was no such thing: "And, Russian? Get out of here." Che came? ". I remember the first time I appeared in the arena, and there are only veterans: Sedina, Adler, Hamyus. Quite steep guys, but all are so kind, so cool. "Hello-hello, come with us, you're sitting there."And I'm like this: "Hello." A little stunned. "There was a wild hype around your arrival in the Vancouver press. - Most of all I was amazed that "Hara Jr. arrived." "Do you think that you are like him?" I wanted to say: "Our mother and father are different, that's why we are not alike." These comparisons are generally ridiculous. The future Crosby finds every year. And we are all different, whatever our names may be.And I immediately said that you should not compare me. To me how he play - still plow, plow and plow. - When Hara got into the "Islanders" system, everyone laughed at him even in the AHL. Because the coaches took him by the handle. - And now he has the Stanley Cup and the "Norris Trophy", he is in perfect order and captains in "Boston". A wonderful example - he proved to everyone that it's silly to laugh at anyone. What is there to add? I also do not want to stop, I want to develop all the time. In the NHL, I learned a lot for myself. And partners, and rivals, and in terms of experience. I looked, what, who and how does. I found out what the training process should be like. I know now how to monitor the state between games. From the point of view of professionalism, this is a huge experience. I looked at everything, wrote it down and put it in my pocket. - In every NHL club there are coaches for the development of players, for skating. Did you have someone there? "They were mainly attackers involved. I worked with a one-on-one skating coach when I got sick with pigs. The team left because. Trainers are good, it's interesting. There is no such that, say, go train, cut circles. A lot of exercises, trainers on the ice, racks are different. It was interesting. But during the season, there is no time to do this. Well, and they mostly with attackers, who are younger, have worked. More on your hands. - At the Sedinov in the "Vancouver" as the gods watched? - I have never seen such a pro. How they train in their own years. Not that they are old - they are fine. They will always score their 40 points. - Well, so little they never typed. It's just that everything was so bad for you that season. - It's sad, sad ( smiles ). Gray hairs really live in hockey. I'm sorry that they did not win the Stanley Cup.The seventh match in the final was lost. But the Olympics won. And this Olympics for them ... Maybe it would be their last. But the elder brother still said: "So we won it already." We had some meeting on this topic. In the league like to write. That Games is a serious event in the life of every player. Well, they said that you can not violate the terms of contracts, arbitrarily leave. And then expel. Something was connected with this. A Sedina - very cool. And as people, and as hockey players. I remember the season is over. So they said: "Now a week of active rest - and start preparing for the next." This is the level. - There is a famous gifka on which they drink water on the bench, moving absolutely identical, being extremely similar. Have you distinguished them at all? - Differed. They have differences. Well, I have experience with twins - I played with Streltsov. Their coaches were always confused, but I was surprised: how can you not tell? They are absolutely different. In the Streltsovs, one person had a smaller face, the other had a really wider face. One still has a birthmark on his chin. If I looked at them from the side, then it's more difficult - I was guided by my birthmark. At the same time, all the "brothers" were called in the team, without distinguishing them. And at Sedinov - contours of the face are a little different. Not a problem at all. - Is it true that Sven Berci could have gone all five rounds in training? - Yes. Cool guy. Not that he directly "laced" all, but could beat, show something, go left and right. I have only positive impressions from him. He told me about Yurzinov. About what Vladimir Vladimirovich told me about him. They, together with Sbis, also Swiss, go to Yurzinov every year to the camp. Luke is also cool. I would even say that they are Russian guys. - Your friend Linden Wei in "Barys" lights. - And Skille in Minsk started well. God grant, they like it, they will go to the Olympics. - This level is so different in the NHL and the KHL? - Yes, not so different. The role they have here is different. There they played in the third or fourth link. And then they are trusted. Partners are selected. Way, out, with Daws found himself. DRUG ADDICTS "They say Vancouver is the most drug-addicted city in at least Canada." - There is such. Addict, that's really it. Everyone smokes grass everywhere. The city is all in smoke. There is still a street - I do not remember what is called. So there even in a car it's scary to go. A lot of bad guys. They can not stand on their feet, but they still smoke without stopping. There is such chaos - a really devastated street. Cirque du Soleil in Vancouver came, my wife and I went, and for some reason we returned on this road. And in the evening there is a real life. After nine hours. Cool there ( laughs ).Life begins at night. - And in decent areas? "They smoke everywhere." There is not something that smells of grass - it stinks, everywhere is stinking.Okay this drug street, where these guys settle, but in downtown, in the center of the city stank the same. We lived on the tenth floor - even there, it used to smell. This is how much you need to smoke? It seems to me, it was possible to stick the receiver out of the window and inhale. - Asians there are many more. - Almost a half of the population, probably. But they somehow become attached to the culture. Hockey are addicted. There are a lot of fans. In the stands of the same Hindus or Chinese full. 0

TheRick
Maybe Tryamkin is hoping for Gudbranson to leave for free agency, Edler to get traded, Taney becoming injury prone and Juolevi to become a bust so that the Canucks will beg for him to return, overpay him and give him more ice time.

It sucks but if he wasn't willing to deal with that level of difficulty to become a multimillionaire in the NHL I say goodbye to you sir, and I was a big fan of his. The thing that disturbed me most about Tryamkin was he came to camp in Year 1 out of shape. He was already a 3 year KHL vet. His view of hockey did not appear to be the NHL way. What impressed me was he quickly dropped the weight and his play progressed through the season. To an extent I thought the Canucks should have played prospects more in the last month and a half. Not a prospect by that time but he could have got more PP time just to have a look. By season's end Tryamkin was loosing position in the d-zone and getting scored on. He was not alone as most of the defenders were.

I wonder now if part of the reason he turned down a multi-year deal is he wasn't sure about his ability to perform at an even higher level. It may have taken all his effort to play the way he was. Anyway, clearly a poor fit here for him for a bunch of reasons.

The Canucks had a lot to possibly gain by seeing how he handled that. As I mentioned earlier, after 3 years of KHL, maybe Tryamkin thought he had the fundamentals and simply needed the TOI. He showed me enough that I would welcome him back with the right attitude. IMO he would have got the TOI this year and even pressured for a top 4 spot. Might never know that now. Vancouver's depth chart on the back end is deepening and in 3 years who knows where Tryamkin will sit.

A combo of bad coaching, bad agent advice, and some personal issues got it to this point. I just can't see how he's going to be "NHL ready" by spending his prime development years in the KHL. Maybe for an offensively gifted forward but not a D man of his size.

Glad he's not ruled out coming back No surprise that Willie was a catalyst for Tryamkin leaving. In three years, who knows where the blueline will be, but I'd like to think that there would still be a roster spot for a 6'7" 260 lb. mammoth defenseman who can skate well and wants to play big minutes. Time will tell.
