I want him back to Side but I do not see the KHL being a finishing school for defencemen. I base that on NHL vets who come back and say the d-zone side was lackadaisical.

As a general rule, I agree. The KHL doesn't tend to create NHL quality defenders.

However, in Tryamkin's case, its more about the benefit he could see from playing a high minute, front line role and having to skate miles every night. I think his defensive instincts are already pretty strong, especially when it comes to in zone defensive play. But he needs to build on his stamina/conditioning and munching minutes at a relatively high level should help with this. Also, he needs to put in some work on his transition play, neutral zone defense (positioning and reads), and have some slack given to pursue offense . I do believe the KHL provides opportunities for these things.

But yeah, as a general rule, I wouldn't choose to "finish" the development of D prospects in the KHL.

He was that bad she wanted to leave NA all together? Yikes. This is why I miss Kesler.

Why do you think Kesler forced a trade?

But I doubt it was anything where he had to worry about leaving his wife at home while on the road, or anything similar. Just a young Russian couple away from family and it took its toll.

I don't think we've seen the last of Tryamkin. Apparently the Canucks have his rights until 2022. It's assumed he bolted back to Russia because his girlfriend/wife wanted to go back. I can't see this being the reason, for a young player to make an NHL team, potentially making millions in the best league in the world, to give that up so the wife is happier. I think it had more to do with the way Desjardins used him or didn't use him, and playing on a team that was at the bottom of the standings. He knows how good he is and how good he could be. The Canucks felt he needed more developing in Utica.

Now, the Canucks have new coaches, they brought in some good veteran players, they're drafting well and you can already sense the shift. Horvat is at the forefront, Boeser looks like a beauty of a player, Virtanen has improved and looks ready. The Sedins and Edler will be moving on soon, making way for more youth. I'll predict 2 years, the 2019/2020 season, Try will return.

Juolevi - Stecher

Hutton - Gudbranson

Tryamkin - Chatfield

Brisebois

Who knows how Tryamkin will develop in the KHL. I suggest Canuck d depth will bury him in 3 years.

Seriously?

Hutton had a tough sophomore year. Juolevi has underwhelmed. Chatfield and Brisebois have some promise, but it's early, and still odds are neither becomes a top-4 NHL D-man.

I mean, Tryamkin could plateau/regress, but denying that he showed signs of being something special last year is being almost purposely obtuse. But whatever helps you deal...

Doesn't sound like Tryamkin was very impressed with our coach's management of not only him, but other pkayers too.  Plus, was his comment about our city being "dope" kind of negative?

he's not wrong on the dope comment, a day doesn't go by when i don't smell some skunky crap in the area where i live close to downtown, bugs me too. I wish they would just vape and spare people the stank.

well at least we know there were a lot of issues annoying him about the coaching and the city. It sucks but if he wasn't willing to deal with that level of difficulty to become a multimillionaire in the NHL I say goodbye to you sir, and I was a big fan of his.

Pretty sure there's bigger problems then smoking plants in Russia right now...

Sounds to me like someone who has no interest in coming back but doesn't want to burn bridges just in case. If he does come back in three years he'll be a 26 year old defenseman not used to North American ice with a track record of poor commitment to both the team and his own physical fitness. At this point I'd take picks for him and call it a high risk/reward pick gone wrong.

Can't win em all!

Off extension from the article, Igor Eronko placed it easier to read in his tweets

So that's that.

Willie D chased him off in large part due to his coaching decisions.

Glad he's not ruled out coming back

"Willy Desjardins unpleasant?"

"He's normal."

- What did Alexander Burmistrov wish after the transition to Vancouver?

"They did not communicate with Burmistrov , but I congratulated him." And so - in touch with Kolya Goldobin . I wonder how he will go in this camp, because I'm for the Russians. I want our guy to be in the main team. He's good, talented, fast.

- I talked with Desjardins in the summer, and he said that Goledobin needs to grow up.

- Damn, I'm certainly not a coach, but, in my opinion, Kolya should be allowed to play. He is small, brisk, his hands are in order, and he knows how to score goals. Vaughn, in the first match scored, and after that he was sentenced to ten minutes. So what is this? Where is the logic? Especially since the team was finishing the season. Then, "Arizona" scores - he again put. He scores in Edmonton in the last game - we score together, went out in fact in one link, because in three games - he is again saddled. If a person does not play, how will he grow up? How do you understand that he can play?

"Are you back for the same reason?"

- I have many times been superfluous. Yes, not even a lot - almost always me. And did not understand why. I spend a good game, and for five or seven minutes to the end I'm put on the bench without any explanation. It was very strange.

"You said Dejardin was very straightforward and open." Still did not explain?

- I talked to him one on one. I could ask him anything. They even told me: "How do you ask such things?". Well, what should I do? I train, work, that's why I come to the coach, asking when I will play. I did not come to sit there.

 guess we weren't the only ones that questioned Willie's decisions
