A bit of a shame because during 2017-18 and the first half of 2018-19, it seemed like he got much more offensive opportunities. And he looked good several times I watched him, either in power play or with top forward lines at 5v5. A couple games I’d have rated him their best offensive D (and one of the best on defense as well). I get that offense isn’t necessarily his forte and that part of development is often specialization, but I’d have hoped he’d continue to get offensive looks and build more of a 2-way game over there than just a shutdown/matchup/PK role. Not that there’s anything wrong with a hulking defensive specialist Dman. Just feel like Tryamkin has more tools than that.

Towards the end of his one season with us Tryamkin was getting more involved in the offence by both cycling and joking the rush.  He was actually impressive with how smart he read the offensive chances, and he could get back too.  Then Willie D did the Willie, and said something stupid to Tryamkin.

Did he recently change it?

Im pretty sure his profile pic has been him in a Canucks uni for a long time.

Also on a side note, I wonder if dumping Goldy would change his opinion on coming here. I know they’re good friends.

Not sure on both accounts.  If goldy was the only reason he would come back.he shouldn't bother.

No that's been his pic since he left.

Wonder if Tryamkin will be posting about how the Canucks did his buddy Kolya wrong by waiving him and assigning him to Utica? I seem to remember Nik posting something expressing his displeasure with Canucks brass the last time Goldobin got sent down.

Maybe Nik will realize that performance means everything in the NHL. If Goldy being sent down sours him on Van then he isn’t a fit anyway. Any suggestion that Vancouver did not give Goldy a fair shot is really bogus. Hopefully Tryamkin can see that.

Where else would he go? 30 other teams didn't want Goldy on their NHL team either.

EP and Dahlen are good friends too. We know how that played out. If Tryamkin wants to be in the best league in the world, he can make new friends (as EP has done). At least Goldy is still in the system for the time being (and can still prove himself to make the Canucks again) and if he needs a Russian buddy on the team, we have Podkolzin coming soon.

I don't think so, but if it does I think Vasily Podkolzin may just change it back....

I'd love to see Nik back, but if thats the kind of thing he's basing career decisions on then maybe not.

I doubt he’s basing any decisions on it. It was a quote to Russian press IIRC about a Russian player who was also a friend and former teammate that got demoted. Nik was mostly showing support for Goldy, but he did manage to throw a little shade in the process. I think his motivation was mostly just to talk up his friend Kolya, rather than cut down the Canucks. Not a big deal. Was mostly mentioning it tongue in cheek. Still, I kinda hope in the coming days, Tryamkin gives us a juicy quote about Benning’s flawed ability to evaluate talent, when it comes to Goldy, just so I can watch everyone’s head explode.
