I'm just demonstrating that its an inferior league, and you're coming up with inferior presumptions.

No offence.

Well your comparisons of forwards who are “have beens” and given huge opportunities in the NHL, seem far more inferior,

than that of an opinion on an untapped prospect Dman,

who showed very good potential playing and matched against some of the biggest and best power forwards in the NHL for only 69 games in the NHL as a 21 year of rookie.

No offence.

Do you treat the ahl in the same way, do players who PK in Utica not get some thought at their effectiveness as a pker in the nhl. Does a face off specialist not get a look in or more credence being pencilled in as a defensive draw specialist.

egst you are saying is - if they don’t play in the nhl we cannot make any inference at all. How do you think scouts identify players, with a magic 8 ball?

We've already identified Tryamkin at the NHL level, and we have no idea how well he can PK here ?

Just because he's a top 4 D in Russia, does not make him one here.

If, and hopefully when, Tree comes over, I imagine he would be playing pk. It would be a complete waste to not use him there. Don’t know why someone would think he wouldn’t.

Why didn't he play PK when he was here before?

My point is that just because he is an effective PK'er at the KHL level, does not mean that it will translate to the NHL level.

He is big, but he's not particularly quick, and I'd say the NHL is a lot faster, also, factor in the rink size.

To be a top 4 D, you would have to play on one of the special teams, he will have limited minutes otherwise.

He is consistently used on the PK, one of his strong specialties,

And this is a longer rink I beleive..

Along with Tryamkin, we should also sign some of his teammates. Leading goalscorers, Peter Holland and 42 year old Pavel Datsyk.

They could just slot in to our lineup, and we'd be a powerhouse.

I like Tryamkin as well, but realistically, he projects no more than a 3rd pairing D man.

Does this mean he can go coast to coast at the NHL level?

Pretty sure he was give 1 or 2 opportunities,

seemed all right..

But that was under WD,.  He had his favorites , and his noted prerequisite for any player having to play Junior Hockey or spend time in the AHL before they get better opportunities.

You mustn’t have a good opinion of Podkolzin either?

I think he's great. He's 19 years old, playing against men.

NT is 27.He's not going to get that much better. I am a fan of the player,

Some of the claims made in the last few pages here about the player, are absurd, and unrealistic.

I’ve re read my posts,  and no where have I stated “matter of fact”.

I’ve openly stated I am keen on him, and I have great expectations of him.

Ive stated all along in most of my posts over the years that I usually hold to my opinions.

Sometimes that changes, and I usually admit to it in the same new opinion I offer for discussion.

But, “as a matter of fact”,

He didn’t QUIT our team, on 2 occasions he was without a contract, and was free to do what he wants.

.. but you might know better about “quitting”, maybe it’s something your good at, or have more experience with?

Or this might be simply the right time to do it.

You are definitely keen on him, that is certain, and thats your opinion and you are more than entitled to it.

No need to start name calling Silent, we are both adults here with vastly different opinions. I have repeatedly accepted your opinion but mine and others that don't share your opinion are Quitters?

We are both adults right?

Quote from Wikipedia

Tryamkin made the Canucks 2016–17 season-opening roster[5] but was unable to draw into the lineup. The Canucks reportedly attempted to send him to their AHL affiliate, the Utica Comets, but Tryamkin declined – using his contract option in forcing them to keep him on their roster or allow him to return to Russia. Tryamkin eventually made his season debut on 3 November, after being a healthy scratch in the team's first 10 games of the season. Tryamkin remained in the defense corps for the remainder of the season, appearing in 66 games for 2 goals and 9 points.[6]

Unhappy with his role and ice-time within the Canucks blueline, as a restricted free agent, on April 20, 2017 it was announced that Tryamkin was returning to Russia to play for Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg.[7]

I call this quitting the team, thats my opinion, like my arsehole I'm entitled to it.

IMHO trade his rights to a USA east team and be done.

Jimmy,  I add more weight to what we saw of Tryamkin in 69 games,  on a Canuck TEAM weak on Dfence, Offence, and Coaching.

For anyone to say they did not see any “shine” in this rookie on that squad was not watching him play.

He is 4 years older at 26 ( young) in my books for any Big D men that survive any real time in the NHL.  He has had no major injuries, and continued to develop, his above average mobility and skating is undeminished.

The monster D men that have great longetivity I the NHL usually grow into their bodies at 26-27-28..

As far as monster D menster d men go,you can’t help but mention Robinson Pronger Chara Webber .. Burns is of that same template,

Tryamkin is of this same template, and this organization should not give up on that.

We need to see at least 2 years of him or more in his 1st contract back.

Is he still a bit of a project as a prospect?

Far less than Virtannen, and far less than Joulevi have been,.  As well as any of the other favourites WD protected over his 3 years of Coaching.

One YOUNGER D man that the hawks might be giving up on is Zadorov..

feels the same as Ottawa or the Islanders giving up on Chara.

Green is the right Coach for NIK,  but I’d personally like to see a shift on D coaching to bring some symmetry in method of play for the D core from game to game.

all very good points, I just like that we saw improvement in his KHL game after his time here as well.

I think a lot of people got into the $&!#e column with him with his - perfectly reasonable and negotiated - AHL out clause and then how he left, and just haven't gotten over it.

I'm hoping Benning goes for 3 or 4 years term. Sometimes GMs bet long on players and really get a bargain. If its all salary I really don't see it as a huge risk.

Even with Willie D, Tryamkin was our 4th most used PK defenseman by TOI (and 5th by TOI/GP) in 2016-17. And his results were right in line with what the other veteran PK Ds were getting that season in Vancouver.

He didn’t really look out of place by my eye test either.

Of course, hopefully the team (and defence) is better now, but I expect Tryamkin is too.

Yeah, I'd expect him to be on PK 2 when he gets here next year.

Still doesn't make him more than a likely '3rd pair' level D. But I'm also unclear why that's a 'problem'?

there's nothing wrong with that, and as he gets more NHL experience I'd expect him to pick up more and more harder minutes.

Or maybe he felt it was better for his future hockey career and development if he played more minutes in all situations? And by most accounts he has done pretty well playing in the KHL and gaining valuable experience.

I don't count it as "quitting on the team", He still seems to be interested in playing for the Canucks, his IG pic is him in a Canucks uniform!! That doesn't sound like he doesn't want to be part of the team.

Not sure how he's going to pan out and adjust to the NHL, but I enjoyed watching him play for the Canucks before and I will be rooting for him if he re-signs.
