We'll see how he does in the open ice (on both sides of the puck) but I don't see the similarities really at all. I have been able to catch a few KHL games this year and he does play all over the ice. The questions will be how does he adapt to the smaller ice and which role will the Canucks want him to play. I'm assuming that the Canucks are going to ask him to play a simple stay at home game, but I really hope at some point they take the leash off and allow him to carry the puck the way we see Hutton doing now. He is very intimidating when he gets a head of steam going.

Even assisting in Utica.

He may surprise, but some moderate production combined with good passing and a solid defensive game it what I hope for at this point.

He's certainly sounds like he's a better skater and hockey player than Chara was at the same age but that does not automatically mean he will be better than Chara in his prime. Right now he's promising with a lot of potential. We'll see how it turns out Well he definitely has the desire. I remember watching Chara when he came into the league. Chara was a very awkward skater and had mobility issues. But he worked hard and made his stamp in the NHL. Tryamkin is Sooo much further ahead than Chara was so I have no problem saying that Tryamkin will be better. Tryamkin is already more mobile than Chara ever was, and he is pretty good at clearing the front of the net lol he's like a bull dozer lol What was Chara so good at that Tryamkin wont be? Watching Tryamkin highlights makes me think he's close to being as good as Chara right now let alone after a few more years of development. I was watching a clip of his pre draft interview with JB last night and found it interesting that he told them in the interview that he planned on coming to the NHL after playing 2 more years in the KHL. Looks like everything is going as planned.

Chara has slowed considerably and is not the same player he was a few years ago. If Tryamkin ever gets to be even as good as Chara is now, we will be incredibly lucky.

He absolutely towered over Sutter He has great skating stride. He didn't go full speed but I didn't expect him to after a long flight and not much sleep Has a solid shot. Has a strong and accurate slap shot from the point Seems comfortable handling the puck Didn't participate in main practice with the rest of the team but he watched for a bit. He is one of the biggest humans I have ever seen. These notes aren't too remarkable and seem fairly obvious. Hope to see more of him in the next couple days though. I have more notes on the main practice, but will save them for another topic. Let's just say yesterday's win really lifted the mood on this team. Virtanen is a joker and Sbisa asks many questions. Thanks for the summary. I'm excited to see him play

cuporbust
What does tryamkin think of the chara comparisons ? Everybody has compared me to Zdeno Chara, my entire life,” Tryamkin said through a translator. “I have no idea why.” And that, folks, is Tryamkin’s first joke. Rim shot. Through that translator, Tyamkin said he would like to actually surpass Zdeno Chara. “I would like not to be Zdeno Chara. I would like to be Nikita Tryamkin.”

I still see that as a short term vs long term issue. If he needs a full season (or more) in the AHL before he's NHL ready, he understandably would prefer to continue improving at home to eventually make it to the NHL. If he needs ~ a month in Utica, I think he could fairly easily be convinced it's worthwhile
