Pimp C
Jim Benning projected Pettit to be a role player/4th line centre who could be a good penalty killer. Stewart is a project but his size, reach and toughness is intriguing and trained properly could be a solid number 5/6 dman. How could you honestly say that Pettit and Stewart are waste of picks when you likely haven't seen a wink of either play, and neither has played an NHL game yet, not only to mention they were drafted 6 months ago. how could you honestly make an assessment in 6 months and call them a bust? Are you a pro scout? A 4th liner in the OHL has close to no chance at becoming an NHLer. A guy like Richardson who is a 4th liner in the NHL was a 1st liner in the OHL. I can make that assessment because if you look at their stats you can see they are not going to amount to NHLers. Look at 4th liners in the NHL and compare their stats in juniors to the stats of Pettit and Stewart.

I would have loved if we picked up someone else other Petit, but you use those picks to get these kinds of players. But even though the odds of them making to the NHL are stacked against them, saying that they have no skill is just wrong.

RonMexico
I ignored the rest of that crap because I know every team doesn't consistently draft NHLers in late rounds. But teams like LA, Anaheim, Detroit, Montreal are able to get good players from there once in a while because THEY DONT MAKE TERRIBLE ZERO UPSIDE PICKS AS OFTEN AS THE CANUCKS DO. Players drafted in the 6th round or later from 2004-2014 that are legit NHL players: LA - Jordan Nolan ANA - none DET - none MON - Mark Streit, Matt D'Agostini, Sergei Kostitsyn VAN - Jannik Hansen Canucks are on par with LA and have a leg up on Anaheim and Detroit when it comes to late round player development. CanuckGAME
This is my first time getting a chance to check out Forsling, nice not having to work the rest of the day. Just tuning into the game now. So do we have a player here? Whats the consciences? Where do you guys see his potential? And how many years before he can translate it to the NHL? Just tuning into the game now. So do we have a player here? Whats the consciences? Where do you guys see his potential? And how many years before he can translate it to the NHL? He's still pretty young, but was playing in the SHL. Has some definite promise as a PMD/PPQB. I think he is in swedens top 4D, 1st unit PP. great point shot, gets a lot of pucks through. He's gotten a lot(if not all) his points on the PP. it would be nice to see him be a little more effective at even strength though.
Hairy Kneel
Edler would be a great contact to fill in Frosling on tips to becoming a better pro. Can't wait to see him in our pipeline..heck any of our draft picks, there are no guarantees in this world especially in the draft regardless the round they were taken. So many first rounders have hit the waiver wire.or traded for scraps.. ActiveDouble
Gustav Forsling has been terrific defensively. He's been terrfic defensively for all games in this tournament. He's also definitely quaterbacking that gorgeous power play that Sweden has. Him, Aho, and Nylander are few reasons why this PP is working. Stats don't always amount to a whole lot of what a player will be in the NHL. You should have figured that out But enough arguing with your ignorance Forsling has really showed some good stuff in this tourney. Hope he can build off this tourney and bring it in the SHL
Baer.
Big shot. Reminds me of Salo at the top of the point, just unloading on the net. If only our defense could hit the net like that.

Conveniently focused on the last 10 years so you could avoid Jonathan Ericsson 291st (9th round) in 2002, Henrik Zetterberg 210th (7th round) in 1999, Pavel Datsyuk 171st (6th round) in 1998.NEVER claim that Vancouer is better than Detroit when it comes to player drafting and development. Having a "Leg up" in drafting 6th round players in the last 10 years is such a poor metric for evaluating a teams player development and scouting. Instead lets look at players Detroit has drafted in the 1st 5 rounds in the last 10 years that have played more than 50 games. Detroit: Darren Helm, Justin Abdelkader, Jakub Kindle, Shawn Matthias, Cory Emmerton, Joakim Andersson, Brendan Smith, Gustav Nyquist, Tomas Tartar, Riley Sheahan, Calle Jarnkrok, Tomas Jurko. (12 players, 9 of whom are on the roster) Vancouver: Mason Raymond, Michael Grabner, Cody Hodgson, Jordan Schroeder, Kevin Connauton. (5 players, none of whom are with the team anymore) Oh and those 9 players have combined for 130 points for Detroit this season, the other 2 have 21 points for 2 teams (one player currently not playing). The Vancouver draft picks have combined for 24 points on 5 different teams. You sir are an idiot...

StarGirl
I can't believe I have to say this again, but Forsling is doing better than I thought he would. He's been very helpful on the Swede's PP and racked up points to prove it too.
