Plum
Ivan Hlinka 2014! About a month from now the Ivan Hlinka tournament will be played, it will be from August 11-16. This is the 2nd U18 of the year, the other U18 is played in April. That U18 is an annual event organized by the IIHF. Ivan Hlinka is not organized by the IIHF and the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament is the only competition of the two U18s to which Canada is able to send its best under-18 team due to some players being in the CHL playoffs. However, the Ivan Hlinka is not best on best, the United States do not send their U18 USNTDP team which makes it quite difficult for them to win this tournament. Canada has won this tournament 18 times, Soviets/Russia 3 times, USA, once, Sweden once. We dominate this tournament, although it's expected it is still quite an achievement. Over 23 years, Canada has won 18 times, we have won 9 out of the last 10 tournaments. The first game will be played Monday August 11th, Canada vs Switzerland at 8AM EST, 5AM PST. The tournament will be played in Slovakia/Czech Republic. If you want, you can make your guess at a roster. Expect Team Canada to announce the roster early August. GO CANADA GO!!!!!

avelanch
IS McDavid no longer elligable for this? he's not eligible, because he played in the WJC. it's a team canada rule only, not a tourney rule. How could someone leave McCool off their roster. Great name!

Great name! What a stupid rule, is this Team Canada's way of handicapping themselves to level the playing field for everyone? Also I agree Haydeen McCool has to be the best name in hockey. Canucks1219
5-1 win (yes, again) over Slovakia. Canada finishes 1st in their Group (B ) with a record of 3-0-0. The Czech had the same record in Group A. Canada's goals for (15) is 3rd behind the Czech (19) and USA (18). Last is Slovakia (3). Canada's goals against (3) is good for 1st. Followed by the Czech (7) and then Sweden (8). Last is Russia (23). Russia though... They let in 23 goals in just 3 games played...

Plum
Also, Merkley and Jeremy Roy are the assistants. Weird that the captains were from 3 different leagues? Trying to keep it fair to each league or maybe it makes sense because it'll be helpful for other players to talk to the captain from their league. Then again, it doesn't take a letter to be a leader. Canada is facing USA in the Semi-Finals Friday at 8:30AM PT. I'll try to find some streams. Canucks1219
Woah. Must have been an all-around sloppy game. Let's not forget Canada let in 5 goals as well. Still, winning by a goal differential of 6 goals is always impressive.
